So I had tried asking the staff in the shoutbox a question. They were too busy, so instead of spamming the shoutbox where messages can easily disappear I'll post it here! My question is; When will the ECC newspaper be published? If nobody heard my idea about the newspaper is can be found right here; http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/how-i-feel.116292/ So, if nobody has taken a thought about this, then I shall say what I think needs to be included inside of this newspaper; -Upcoming community events -Bug fixes -Player adds -Stories -Pictures -News -Prior events -Etc. People could mail the staff or the editor of this newspaper to add in their stories and the likes of that. The reasons why this could not be player run is because; -Not all knowing -Don't know all the facts -No knowledge of server events unless it's public knowledge already. Can't put old news in a newspaper! Lately I've been hearing that the staff are quite busy lately. They've got a lot of things to be done! I get that! That's why I would love to be the editor of the newspaper. But there would be a few problems of course; -Has to be on front page of forums so everyone sees -I need inside scoop on things players don't know yet Those two are things only the owners and high staff know. That's why they must do the paper, or give the secrets to a trusted editor (Don't know if anybody trusts me!) and let them pidazzle with the format and publish. Permissions to the front of the forums would have to be given. Again, I don't know if the staff exactly trust me enough, or anyone for that matter. I would love it dearly if a high ranking staff member could respond. But it would also be swell if we started giving ideas on; -What type of information should be in the paper? -Who should run it? -Format? -Paying for ads? Hopefully the staff team can get this all sorted out so the first edition could be published in February! Any questions or comments, please post below!
I like the idea of having a newspaper type thing for the server. I'll speak to other staff about perhaps starting this up. I would happily write it up every week
It would have to require, like said above, information about bug fixes and actual news that we care about. I couldn't give a rat if somebody got their first star tool. Put that on the last page. I'll care about new events and updates. Maybe new rules that we should be aware of. Like if you were to ever publish a new punishment law, that sort of thing. All that jazz!
Maybe, this should a collaborative effort from the staff team to create a weekly article on the ECC home page? Each staff member contributes to the article. Just an idea...
I did attempt to start one of these once... And promptly released one issue and no more and eventually passes the project on. I'd love to give it another go though I'm frankly not sure if I could promise a regular release. Will want to discuss with other staff since frankly I love the idea.
Even if there's no newspaper... I just want some publicity. I'm sick and tired of being told things are getting done yet no evidence nor progress has been sent out.
Hey @Dr_Dragon_Slayer, I currently own the ECC Sentinel, which is a sort of semi official ECC Newspaper. We currently try and post an issue at least evry month, maybe more times but it is a hard task! It is posted on the General Discussions forum, and I plan to release an issue today. Love to hear that. It would be nice if there was information that is for upcoming events nobody but the staff know about. That would probably be the main difference between yours and this one. I wouldn't mind putting that info into yours though... but also post it weekly and put it on the front of the forums. Anywho, surprised the owners haven't commented yet. I would love to hear what they have to say.
Hi, from what I have learnt from doing this, it is almost impossible to post weekly as there are just not enough stories and events to write about. My team starts writing about a week before publishing so it takes time to do as well! With the 1.8 Minecraft release, also know as the "Bountiful Update," many users have noticed the beauty found in banners. Banners are a 2x1 think block that could be hung on walls or placed on the ground. These banners are just like pictures. The banners can be customized with over 100 different figurations. With the banners easy to craft, many ECC users have resorted to selling these banners at 90ECD - 175ECD, turning a huge profit. Common banners cost around 25ECD (or less) to craft and create from scratch but many users have found profit selling them. Some banners can even be worth up to 750 nether stars! The only ECC users selling banners on the forums are @toddtedd and @ldw116 but many more private sellers can be found in game. Both users have been involved in many deals and both of them have satisfied pre-made and custom banner orders. Will banner shops keep sprouting or will they fall once ECC users research more? Town/Nation of the Week: Lancaster (Mayor: @jmichael214 ) Lancaster is a Nation, owned by @jmichael214 , which consists of 13 adjacent towns in an 600x800 piece of land. Once a member, you will receive permission to the nation's 100x100x7 farm (located away from the main towns to reduce lag) along with any purchase of land within the nation. You can access the town by traveling to towns5, redstone row, stone corner OR you can /warp lancaster (with TP feature which can be bought in the ECC Shop). The town welcomes all ranks and contains an amazing guide to help out our newest ECC players! Once in Lancaster, you will enter the town hall. Walk out of the building, and you will be in the main square. There, you will see the tall buildings that overlook the main square. Sorry, but most of the buildings are sold out. You will have to act quick if you want to grab one of the beautiful apartments or plots that make Lancaster the city that it is. Lancaster is such a success, the mayor has trouble keeping up with the demand; such a high demand that you need to buy a property before they all sell out!
