Ign: RyanBlocks2 Suggestion: Raise pumpkin prices to $.45 from $.40. Reason: I just want to make a little money farming pumpkins man. Additional Info: It takes $185 of feats to farm these things anyway.
Not wanting to raise it too much, but I think .50 is a nice even number..... I think it would be better suited to raise it to .50.
I actually did do 15 minute runs. Just many of them. I once compared my hour long runs from 15 minute ones and I found that the difference was negligible. So I stuck with a few 15 minute runs and just trying to see how I could get the most out of those. I did some experimenting on short ~5 minute runs and then when I ended up with a method that I thought was the most efficient I would extend the runs to 15 minutes, and did like 2 or 3 of them and averaged it out. And then I calculated how much that would be per hour. I'd say it's quite accurate.
15 and 10 minute runs estimated out to full hours are accurate enough for testing purposes, like Kuke said, running full hour long tests is very time consuming when you're needing to several of them to average the results. On the suggestion at hand, I do believe it would beneficial to have pumpkins raised in price to help out newer players, since I as a newer player was only able to pull myself up because of pumpkin farming. However that was a long time ago when the $5000 tool in question was a several thousand dollar tool because of the rarity of it so most used lesser tools to pumpkin farm.
My reasoning is: 1) Farming pumpkins to max profit requires expensive investment. You really need fly, extracommands+ and feed. At 9k/USD thats 1.6 million in features which actually costs a good amount more than a melon sword. 2) Melon farmings real advantage is in how easy it is to do and this doesn't change that. There are better ways of making money than melon farming and there pretty much has always been. Melon farming is good because its super easy to do. That's why people do it. If pumpkins and melons cost the same to do, melon farming is still much better because of this. 3) Raising pumpkins provides real options to those without lots of money already while having minimal effect on those making the most in the game. $17k really isn't enough to make those players making the most in the server swap to it. It does however allow those without tools and features a better way of making money to get them. Obviously theyll make far less than the max 17k however. 4) People would have to really be focused to actually get the 17k/hr. Thats row after row with macros to eat, repair and sell nonstop. I doubt many people will actually end up making this much.
Except realistically you still need extcommands+ and feed to get the full money out of melons, so the only comparable number is the $60 for fly. At 8k/USD that's ~400k, and even then I would argue fly is very helpful with melons to set the most consistent speeds. These are good arguments. You should lead with these. In all honesty this argument simply doesn't apply, as the maximum of any crop is calculated with the best possible everything. Sure, many people won't have the best possible everything, but if it's good enough many will get there.
Increasing pumpkin farming could bring a much needed spark to the economy, especially with the influx of newer players. Could pave the way for pump axes... seeds... and a market for bigger pumpkin farms as an alternative to mswords. As noted to achieve the full capacity putting it on par requires a lot of investment and not many would be able to max out the profit. However I could see more users using it as an alternative to other farming creating a demand to build bigger farms as well. I would convert my melon farm over and sell perms if it was worth it. The server technically was built on pumpkin farming for the most part so it kinda deserves more then the rep it's gotten. +1 **dont beat me up too bad nicit... too tired to put any real thoughts together**
