Why not have a ECC store that can sell physical merch such as hats, shirts, mouse pads as well as in game items? Any thoughts or Ideas?
Umm... Unfortunately, Andrew is already WAY too busy. I'm sure having to make, set up and ship merch would be too much for ECC. Maybe if a Merch Team is set up, but NO ONE wants to go through all that.
Why is willing to set up a Merch Team? i could make extra cash for the ECC server as well as provide posable in game intensive to players
He's most likely Not willing to set up a merch team. Too much hasel, plus even if he did, you CAN'T expect any money. Not a penny. If your talking REAl money, Andrew already has to pay to have the server in a safe place, this ain't a "basement server." He needs all the cash he can get. And if your talking ECC money, keep in mind, No staff gets paid. It's just a "being kind" thing.
Plus, not to mention, the locations of the team. We would need at least 5 players that live together for perfect communication. It would be hard if one guy lives in Cali, one guy in New York and some one up in Canada. It just won't work. Plus, of you won't donate, you most Likely won't buy our stuff.
Its not a matter of WHO will buy from the store, it is a matter of how it will be done. Like I said, it's too much to set ALL this up, just to sell 50 shirts, and and a mouse pad. It wont be 100% worth the time.
OK im just saying that within 20min it would be posable to setup something as simple as a cafepress.com ACC for free and make some cash that would directly benefit the server... As for and i meant to say it not i as in the server would make money not me... location would not matter for a small merch team that collaborated only on online projects such as cafepress/ etc. and even if only 50 and a mouse pad where sold thats still almost another $800 that the server did not alredy have...
The server has never been focused on making money, the server gets enough money from donations to pay the bills and to pay for advertising. A store would be too much of a hassle for andrew to organize and to set up a merch team and oversee them while he is busy with both the server and he still has his normal life. Let's name cons/pros. Pros: More money will be brought in. (even though there is no need for more money) People walking around with merchandise means more people will know about the server. People will be happy with their merchandise. Cons: andrew has to trust the merch team with money and sales. andrew has to oversee the merch team. It is something that requires a considerable amount of work It is unnecessary because there is no need for more money. The cons outweigh the pros. cafepress takes 10% of the royalties you earn (the difference between their baseprice and your price) You have to pay the moment you want to change anything to the store. Cafepress is more for private businesses. Cafepress is just not suitable for selling merchandise for ECC. TL;DR There are more cons than pros and this will most likely not happen.
All in all, it's not gonna happen. Not enough people. If this server had 1000+ members online at once, it might be considered.
