Well here goes nothing..... I have had this dream/Idea for a while now and will be looking to make it a reality starting today. I will be looking to building a large PVP arena in the next week or so in either one of my 4 towns or in another town of a long time trustworthy ECC member. The arena will be used to hold private organized PVP events and tournaments in a setting where there will be no trolling or interruptions by random users, as we see in the public arena at spawn. It will also be enclosed with glass walls to prevent anyone from interrupting the battle and prevent users from flying around while pvping is taking place. We will also be building sectioned seating for users who would like to come watch the events. Pricing will be determined by how close the sections are to the glass. The events/tournaments will be 1v1 or team combat with entry fees and prize money for the top 3. All the entry fees will be combined and only a small amount will be used to pay users who worked the event. I will be holding events specific to levels of users PVP abilities that include 3 different classes (A, B, &C), so that all of ECC can participate have fun! So.. What do I need? Well not really a whole lot • First, I’m looking for a group of 3-4 users with a rank of president or higher who would like to help me organize the events, hire workers for the events, and help overseeing the project as a whole. This team will be chosen by me and will share in the profits and fun of hosting the events. If no one is interested, I will complete the project myself. It will just take a bit longer. • Second, I am looking for a team of builders to help design and build the arena over the next few days to 1 week. My goal will be to have the arena ready in less than 2 weeks, and begin hosting events by the end of the month. I have some design concepts that I will present as a template. • And lastly, I will be looking for a group of users to work the events. The pay will depend on the position and will be received after the event has ended. • I would also like to hear any feedback (Dorc!) and/or any ideas anyone may have to make the project work or may be even better than what I suggested. I may include a poll soon depending on what feedback I receive. I am mostly looking to see if it is really worth the efforts on my end and/if users would actually participate. My hope will be that we can finally create a PVP experience on ECC that anyone can participate and enjoy without the trolling, tping, and annoyances we see in the spawn arena and the mining world, as well as provide an alternative entertainment for anyone wishing to watch the PVP events in person. The project will start as soon as I feel that it is wanted by a majority of the users and I have had a chance to review any ideas and or potential improvements to the idea. I have been involved in the Minecraft PVP scene for a while now and have experience setting up and hosting events. I will post more details/updates as more information comes. No. There will be more people involved and will be more organized. Imagine a 16 person tourney with a 5k entrance fee. There will be judges to protect the rules and there will be limits on weapons, armor, and mcmmo abilities.
I have an idea for the arena but as tcanton knows, when I'm on, I'm farming or pvping so I won't be much help after the first few days... :|
People can still fly, go invisible, swim in lava, camp underwater, and fly faster than platypuses with jet packs. You'd need a really organized judging technique to effectively protect the rules in a truly competitive enviroment. Other than that, this idea seems exciting. Here's a sketch of a platypus with a jet pack, for those wondering what that would look like.

There will be a crew of trusted judges at each even to montior the pvp matches. Anyone caught violating any predetermined set of rules would be disqualified and forfiet all entry fees. There will be judges in the arena and watching from a distance as well. Again, I have organized several events like this on other servers. As long as the planning and staff is in place they go very well with very little issues.
@mrpublic @ajr00 Im still looking for a decemt large plot to build..I have some space in my town but not as much as I would like. I think I will need a 50x50 plot to make it work. It will be a 30x30 pvp area with about 10-15 rows of stands fow viewing. The rest will be used to make it inclosed and unaccessable when not in use. Im also considering clearing out an area underground.
Great! I hava a couple of other towns to look at. Im trying to avoid having any homes or farms too close. I would need to have ownership rights just for the plot if that is ok. I will also need to put in a pvp app for the combat area only as well. Ill be on later in the afternoon on saturday.
Ok well.. Things are progressing nicely. So far we have 4-5 potential owners and some additional support for building. I will be on vacation the week after next so we should have everything up and running by the end of the month. In fact we could even be holding the first event on 9/22. Still looking for anyone who wants to help!
