Item/Rank/Feature: I would like to discuss the price of fish. Data Value: dec: 349 hex: 15D Current Price: Fish are currently $10 to the server. Suggested Price: Fish should be at least $20 or $25. Brief Description: You can obtain the fish by fishing at a lake or a fishing table. Open Discussion: Fish should be at least $20 or $25 because you can fish for hours just to get 8 stacks of fish, and then you sell them to the server and only get 5k which isn't that much. And it's a really slow way to earn money and you fish for hours only just to get 5k from 8 stacks or less or more. But if you can't do that because of people using autofish, you could make/get a plugin that automatically kicks/bans a players as soon as they use autofish.
Everyone will agree, but it'll never happen due to the players who use auto-fishing and ruin it for everyone else
andrewkm can get/make a plugin that automatically bans people when they use auto-fish, simple as that.
The server has no way of knowing if your fishing legitimately or using a mod. The only way of knowing if they are using a fishing mod is if they are using the mod AFK. If auto-fishing was made perma bannable then it may scare people away from using it but it couldn't be enforced effectively.
You do have a point there but the auto ban for using auto-fish plugin would be like the plugin that automatically kicks you if you spam.
This would end up banning players who are fishing legitimately, without the use of any mods to their client. With using a fishing bot it sends the same information to the server as if you were fishing using a mouse without mods. It just tells the server you caught a fish. You could have it so it bans people who catch too many fish is a certain amount of time. This would still ban people who are fishing legitimately as you may just get a few catched in a row or you're good at fishing. Auto-fishing wouldn't be like x-ray or spamming. With x-ray there is a clear difference between the amount of ores someone who is using x-ray and someone who isn't finds. With spamming it is a set amount of messages in a certain amount of time. It wouldn't be clear like x-ray or spamming which is why the price is so low. I would like to see an increase in the price of fish as well, but with auto fishing this is unlikely to happen. When the new Mod API that Mojang is making it might allow the server to stop auto-fishing but no one can be sure until it's released.
Autofishing is illegal, but catching every single auto fisher is an Allmost insurmountable task, and we can never know if we've got 'me all
Firstly, we don't have Mctop, secondly, there are too many people to check, just getting to 100 in mcmmo fishing is days of work, there are just too many users to check, and just because there on op doesn't mean are auto-fishing, someone with mcmmo fishing 0 can do it.
Is this why unleashing the "kraken" is being tried? I've never fished, I'm just curious. Also, is this thread better suited for the Market/Economic discussion sub-forum? EDIT: Never mind the crossed out sentence, since price discussions are part of this sub-forum.
Getting an afk kicker enabled on the server would be one of the worst choices ever made. Not only does it have a chance of causing lag, there is no need to kick users who are afk, and those with any sense would be able to bypass it like it isn't even there. Since the topic isn't on afk auto-kicking, I am going to leave that one sentence as my counter-reason to it and leave the rest of the post to why fish shouldn't be raised. First off, the process of detecting auto-fishing and following through to a ban is a very long and tedious process for the staff team. It is not a simple "they are afk *drop the hammer*" it is a very long and muilti-step process which can take upwards of twenty or so minutes on certain cases (the staff team wants to be sure it is happening before any bans are issued). Secondly, fish at their current price still have people auto-fishing and increasing the price would only cause the issue to get worse, while I hate having to use this reason, this is a case where a few bad apples can spoil the bunch. I know that reason isn't a great reason to be told, but it caused the drop in fish in the first place, and let's all be honest, $50 per fish was almost asking for the issue to arise. In my truly honest opinion, I think raising the price of fish will cause a lot of harm added to the server with the little to gain, in proportion. As to what Nicodemux (I didn't tag on purpose before anyone points it out) asked about the kraken, to my knowledge you do not gain anything from summoning it, besides the lightning strike and the message in chat, as the squid spawn was blocked(if I go by what I heard, I have never tested it when it was enabled).
