Hey ECC, Steve here and today I'm writing about my 1 year anniversary on ECC (give or take a few days). Holy cow. It's been an entire year, yet I still feel like I just joined the other day. I've decided at this point to tell everyone how I got here and why I intend on staying, starting from the very beginning. Believe it or not, I used to actually think Minecraft was lame. It just seemed kind of nerdy, like who would want to play that. Anyways, later I was hanging out with my friend and he was playing it and I got pretty interested in it. That interest turned into fascination, and then sort of into an obsession. I started watching CaptainSparklez and TheSyndicateProject on Youtube and was saving my pennies to finally get it. It took a lot of persuading but I finally got my dad to use his credit card to buy it for my brother and I. I didn't even play multiplayer for a while after getting minecraft, mostly because I didn't understand how it worked. My brother and I played singleplayer and we actually had some cool worlds we worked with. On one world, we were able to create a nation of NPC villages connected by roads and rails. We had a capitol city, two agricultural cities with massive farms, and an industrial city where I experimented a lot with redstone. On another creative map, I started building skyscrapers and model towers just for the heck of it. One day my friend got me onto his server that he runs but I was such a noob that I clumsily walked into an end portal he had and got stuck in the end with no way out, besides tp which I didn't know I could do then. I basically gave up on that server for a while though I do go back to it now and again. I started looking for other servers but I never found any that really fit me well besides a couple hunger games servers. When I saw an ad for ECC I said, "Economy-based Minecraft? Sounds lame" and threw it aside. I kept trying other servers but didn't really like any of them so I finally decided to try ECC. When I finally got on, I got bored in minutes and quit. I went back a couple times and by the fourth time I connected, I started enjoying ECC. The first thing I did here was go into the wild to begin my journey. I found an NPC village and walked from it a little ways until I reached a small peninsula where I decided to build my home. I built a small cottage with a glass roof and steps leading up to it. I made it really fancy because I didn't realize how bad the griefing would be. I even made a dock for some boats and a chinampa (a small, man-made floating island used by the Aztecs for farming. One of the only things I remember from 10th grade spanish) for farming crops and trees. Of course, it got griefed beyond recognition so I gave up. Some days later, I discovered the forums. I voted for the first time back when you got money and pork from voting. I made a little bit of money and in a few days I bought a plot from jwpwns in Las Vegas. There I made my first real house on ECC, a model that I still use today with the prebuilts in my town Machiavellia. I got really distressed though because I thought that if you bought a plot in a town it automatically bumped you to resident. Such noobishness. So I rage quit for a few days until I figured out how to really rank up. I eventually saved up for resident, though I don't remember how. I lived in Las Vegas for a long time as a resident and one day got an idea to start a company with a friend of mine building skyscrapers and mansions. He would do the financial stuff and I would build. We knew we needed a place to store all of our building materials and files and such and one day I found a house that would have been perfect for it. It was a three story home in Gemenon, an Outerlocal build. The price was 26k, a steep deal at the time, but after about three weeks of voting and doing odd jobs, I was able to buy it. The company, however, fell through and never became anything as my friend no longer plays ECC. At first I didn't even want to become mayor. I was like, "All that hard work, time, and money spent on one town that might fall into disrepair? Not for me." and left it at that for a while. Then one day in English class, I thought about all the run-down and neglected towns and thought, 'I could do this better' and then the most brilliant idea came to me. I would build ECC's first ever ski resort. You see, I'm from Colorado and I do a lot of snowboarding in the winter and spring. It's the best. So naturally, I wanted to leave my mark on ECC through something I hold dear. The only problem was I couldn't find an area that had a mountain good enough for what I had in mind already. So I built a mountain myself. That's right, I built a freaking mountain, covered it with trees and snow (which is a lot harder than it seems), built two cabins on top of it, and built an operating ski lift. But before I did any of this I needed to get mayor. Gemenon had a small farm so to speak so I could only make about 2k/hour so it took me weeks to even make 40k. One day I posted some pictures of builds I made on single player and this guy partyman909 pm'd me praising my building capabilities. We talked for a while and I told him I was saving for mayor and that I was only half way there. He then gave me the 40k I still needed which was probably the greatest moment of my being on ECC. I bought my first town and named it Machiavellia, after Nicolo Machiavelli, the 16th century Italian philosopher who wrote The Prince, the novel I was reading when I decided to get mayor. We placed all the dirt in about a week and today the town is running smoothly with little problems. Earlier this summer I got a job working for the city and county recreation department where I live. I made about $1200 over the summer and decided to splurge a little on myself. I bought multihome first and then tp a couple weeks later. Then I decided to make a little extra cash by selling gift cards. I sold $20 worth the Falconaire and $20 worth to two other players, in total I've donated $75 to this server. With the money from these, I bought President and named my new town La Ciudad, or The City. Today progress on building LC is going nowhere fast and I have no idea when it will be done. I plan on having it be a city-scape region with three modeled skyscrapers of the Chrysler Building, the Transamerica Building, and The Sears Tower at the center of the town. It will also feature an operating, above-ground rail system with stations here and there, several pvp arenas, training centers, a mall, and an upper-class neighborhood with mansions and such. Lastly, before I leave, I want to thank everyone that got me where I am now. Falconaire - You've been such a good homie to me, I love being able to talk to someone who knows what's up like you do. You're always there and I appreciate everything you do. RaigMuffin - You're such a loyal person and a great friend, you have excellent building and leadership skills, and I know you're someone I can count on. We've had a lot of good times. Itsa_Spenca - My CO homie. We need to hang out irl sometime bro. I love talking to you and you're always there to spark a great conversation when I need someone. Thanks. mcg1 - You're the best. You've got great passion and you let me use your farm in Pisces Cove which I haven't been to in a while. Sorry. Your statue of party is still in my town and I now live inside it sometimes, so thank you. Most importantly, partyman909 - My bro, my partner in crime, my fellow businessman. I owe you so much. Words alone cannot show how thankful I am to have you. You've stuck with me even when I was being stubborn as a mule and you more than anyone else are what got me here. Seriously, I wouldn't be where I am today without you. Thanks bro.
Steevvveee, you're the bomb bro, I remember buying my first donation feature from you . I hope that you stick around for another year and we can continue to have our little banter in Global :3
You guys stop talking to each other and start talking about me. I'm clearly the most important person here.
steveshizzle Thank you so much fro writing this, I have had SO MUCH trouble trying to log on lately. I think RaigMuffin was hacked and I can't even log onto my alt. So I guess, unless I figure it out, this is goodbye. You were awesome!
