today I got a new laptop and this thread is to help me (and you) learn how to use lag to our advantage.
Day one: playing sg and lagged, but helped me kill a player using kits. all I did was, he was frozen in the air and I spammed him and he took a lot of dmg, then he ran and I hit him once and killed him.
Wait... Generally when I think of a "new laptop", lag is not in the equation. Shouldn't you be lagging less now lol? Well, considering it's a new laptop, you probably haven't optimized the Minecraft settings, or downloaded any Mods. My suggestion to you to reduce lag is the following. Download Optifine - This is an extremely helpful Mod for minecraft that's super simple to implement. Literally all you have to do is hit 'download' and the Mod will do everything automatically. Your fps will improve dramatically if you use Optifine. Lower your Render settings - You may already do this, but in 'Video Settings', at the top right corner there's a slider which assigns what many chunks will load around you. At default, it will be at 8. Move the slider to the left to decrease this number. Keep lowering it until you're comfortable with your fps. Change Video Settings to low - There's tons of little options in Minecraft that can clog your fps, so it's best to immediately go into Options and mess with the settings. First, if you're on 'Fancy', switch to 'Fast'. You'll also want to turn clouds off, and change particle settings to 'Minimal'. I'd look around your Video Settings and see if you can tweak anything to boost your fps. If your lag is a frames thing, by following the steps listed above you can quadruple your fps. If these steps don't help, then you're probably dealing with a connection problem. Check your internet router and connection speed, your problem may reside there. P.S: Forgive any grammar/spelling mistakes. It's almost 1am for me... Time to go to sleep
What kind of laptops are there that are good for mc and reasonably priced? I'm gonna need something when I head off to college and I'll need something that can do work as well as run mc well
I don't use or know how to install optifine but I put my render distance on 2 so SG is actually easier then no lag and 16 render distance..
