In Game Name: rNinWhat part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: Network WideShort title for your suggestion: Sound when receiving PM while AFKWhat are you suggesting: If "/ch afk <text>" command is set, the said AFK player will receive a sound notification when the AFK user receives a PM.Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: In case if we would like to contact players for any purposes, such as contacting the players to pay their debt but the user is currently AFK for example.Other information: Simply a sound when a PM is received on the user side; "if" possible, make the sound a toggle if the user does not want to receive the sound notification, or maybe they could just mute the game as another solution.Plugin or custom addition: Probably just editing existing code. One suggestion per form: I Understand.
Not sure how possible this is, but I like it. Also, have not tested it, but believe the forum offers this sound option which might be easier to solve.
If we did this, there would be no toggle. It may end up getting annoying for some users, so will need more input from the community on this suggestion.
No thanks. When I’m afk, I’m afk. Which means my computer is somewhere I’m not. I don’t want sounds going off in the library.
This seems like something that could easily be done by a couple modifications on minecraft client. I have seen such modified clients for some servers. And since it is a modification on minecraft client itself which is downloaded by the player, it would be useful for those who are especially looking for this. And i believe this is a "community work" type of thing, rather than something implemented on the whole server to every players. But that's risky because you never know what will happen once you download the modification to your computer.
I don't really want a audible PM notification that I can't toggle. This is already possible with macros or mods to those who want it and find it useful. I don't think we should force it on everyone. If you need such a notification I say find a way to make it happen for your client.
So, users getting annoyed by it is understandable but what about muting the sound, as in some computer has a mute toggle either physically or digitally. Or in case if the user is AFK on Minecraft while using other application with sound on, I can see some problem on that but then user can turn off master volume on settings as they are on pause screen while being away, but again that seems to add some inconvenience factor. Though, not sure if adding 2nd AFK channel (hence "/ch afk") will be possible like "/ch afks", 's' could stand for sound; though I could see that simply complicate the implementation and situation little more. My personal input though, some people including me would find that useful but some other people like in majority of this thread would find it annoying, at least due to lack of toggle; but will look forward to other feedback.
I mean, I don’t really see a need for this. As clar mentioned, you can do this with macros. And I definitely would get annoyed if it was something I couldn’t toggle. I could also see that being used for things like auto fishing. The user would be made aware of getting a PM and would be able to rush to the computer to reply.
Oh, I forgot that existed, this could backfire in a way but then players will still abuse that when macro mod is back.
