    Suggestion:

Nerf the hell out of star crates

    Reason:

Evidence that some sort of change needs to happen in our economy:
    1) Exp prices are at an all time low b/c no one has any reason to buy exp anymore. I have noticed this across all shops on ECC.
    2) Nstars are still at a pretty low price despite the star casino creating a massive demand for them.
    3) Eff 7s are now worth a measly 600k, about 50% of what they used to be worth a few months ago (1.2m) This is true for ALL star items across the board.

Our economy is in danger and there is a huge risk of it collapsing soon if we don't do anything, let me begin with the problem of star crates.

At the time of me writing this suggestion, 3 star crate keys cost $60 on sale, which means $20 per star crate. At the current feature rate of 10k, this means you are valuing each individual crate key at approximately 200k. Before star crates were introduced to the server, 200k for any star item would be an absurdly low price, so therefore the market adjusted accordingly because of the crates.

After the star crates caused the severe drop in price of star tools, nstars began to lose their purpose of being used as the primary method of obtaining star items, since star crates made the user star tool market much more affordable than the server shop. Although the star casino was successful in creating demand for nstars, I don't think it was able to offset this huge loss in demand for nstars.

Because the Exp and Nstar markets are so closely tied together, the exp market was the last to be ruined by the star crates. No matter how much I have fluctuated my own buy and sell prices at /warp chillville, I have seen a common trend that no one really wants to buy exp anymore. I realized that this is because there is literally no use for it. If we don't get rid of star crates, we need to find a solution. Just like the star casino helped the nstar market, we would need something to do the same thing for the exp market.

I think it is foolish for us to assume that Skyblock and other gamemodes will definitely bring a huge influx of players to ECC, and use that as a reason to keep star crates and keep saying that "the market will be ok once new players bring demand". I think we ought to act preemptively and remove the crates altogether from the market, or at the very least, from sales. If Skyblock and the other game modes do in fact bring more players, only then should we re-introduce star crates when we see the price of star tools going too high. I just don't think it is wise to keep them in the shop and damage the economy any longer.

    Any Other Information:

I know that this earlier suggestion was denied, but we have given star crates a chance for multiple months now, and I see absolutely no change in the economy. If anything it has only gotten worse since that suggestion.

Skyblocks suppose to release in the first week of April. that's like 1 to 1 and a half weeks away.. I think we could wait one more month or so to actually see if something improves.

Also I somewhat like the cheaper startool prices for new people. Wont seem like such a giant grind for new players (though still a grind for sure at 600k) though the exp market and nstar market is really sad right now... So not really sure where I stand fully on this suggestion. I do know startool's were almost like end game though, other than ranks so I'm a bit worried about newer users not having a goal to grind for money anymore.

Not sure if I have made any sense.

Imo, the more we wait, the closer and closer we get towards total destruction of all the essential markets. We need to take action right now and remove the crates before we get to the point where we just end up watching the economy that took 6 years to build collapse in front of our eyes when it is too late.

I definitely see the point you are making, and I knew someone would end up mentioning the new player argument. Here's why that isn't as big of a benefit as you might think. First off, the difference between 600k and 1m to a new player is almost nothing, and to someone who has just joined ECC, those numbers essentially mean the same thing; It's like being asked to pay someone else 100M ecd vs 300M ecd because both amounts are crazy high.

Another problem with this argument is that if we continue to have star crates, the "money making" star tools won't be worth shit in the end, and the money that people make with them won't be worth shit either. If we continue on this path, Ecd simply won't be valuable at all. Star crates will just create mass inflation. I agree that newer users don't have a ton to grind for currently, but returning the star items to their former glory won't impact that problem at all. Newer users aren't looking to buy eff 7s, that is more of a mid to late game goal. Newer users have plenty of other goals they can achieve besides a star tool. For example, there are ranks, features, towns, builds, and much much more that new users can pursue.

I completely understand that this server needs to raise money in order to stay functional, and I'd like to be clear that I'm not sitting here and complaining that "ECC is selling out", that's not what I'm trying to say. But there does come a time where we need to have a change in the server, and we honestly just have to remove star crates, because at this point, they aren't really doing anyone much good.

Our sale schedule has been posted and shows the reduced discounts throughout the next few months.

We will wait at least 3 months before making any drastic changes at this time.

This one major sale is likely causing a major impact, give it a few months, let a few game modes come out, and see how things go. Changing things now won’t make much difference.
