I love e.c.c. I really do. But there are some things on the server and forums that could be handled much better than they are. Last Wednesday I decided I was going to go make a staff application. In my opinion, and several others who I have asked to proof-read it agreed. Later I learned that nodus was a legal thing to use in the game, so I downloaded it as my friends recommended. I didn't know much about it's features, but one day I was just at my zombie spawner and then had to get ready to go to school, and I just forgot to log out. I came home from school, had a quick bite to eat, and opened my laptop only to learn that was banned by video wiz for exploiting an "auto-login" feature I didn't even know about. After I made a ban appeal stating the mis-understanding that was created I was un-banned. I later mailed the mod that locked my application, asking if he could unlock it because it was locked due to me being banned. He told me that I could re-post a staff application after seven days of being un-banned. I thanked him anyways and said that I would just wait for the week, I was really patient despite the inconvieniance. After a week of waiting I re-posted an up-to-date version of my old staff application only to have ajr00 tell me that I wasted hours of my work that I put into that staff application and that I simply couldn't apply until next time the applications were working again. I understand why I wasn't able to re-post it. I'm not demanding to become a moderator. It just makes me mad that there was a moderator that gave me false information that led to almost an hour and a half of my time re-writing my application to be wasted. I think that this policy needs to reviewed and possibly re-written. Thank you for reading this. Below are a list of links to what I have mentioned above. The format isn't required, as said if you were to read all of the message. Edit: And I had so much info it wouldn't look as organized with the format that andrew provided.
I have to agree with you, your thread shouldn't have been locked for this reason: The reason your previous app was locked was because you were banned, you were un-banned and after waiting 7 days you re-posted your application.
I'm not sure if the staff applications sticky is outdated or just not very well worded, however, as a general rule we don't allow people who have been banned while staff apps are open to keep a staff app in, except under very specific circumstances (accidental bans, etc.) Not all staff may be aware of this, as some are newer than the last time bans and staff apps actually caused an issue, and may have misinterpreted the statement in the staff app sticky (which confused me when I read it just now, tbh.) I will see what I can do to make sure that all staff are on the same page when it comes to staff apps and how we deal with bans/locking them, including speaking to someone about rewording that a little better to make it more clear for everyone. :3
I'm sorry, this does happen every now in then. I talked to the other moderator before answering you, but just remember, we're only human. Although unfortunate, if you did remake your application, just save it in a word document or something of the sort for next time around!
Not all the staff are perfect. They are people too. People make mistakes, and I understand that. But to avoid further confusion can we please review this rule so someone else won't end up doing the same thing that I did?
Can a mod please lock? I just wanted to let the staff know about this issue. I didn't want a lengthy discussion of it.
