I logged on the ECC Forums this morning to find "Your IP address has been banned.". I was on my iPhone connected to my personal WiFi. There were no complaints made on me, and no reason to my my IP would be banned. I logged onto the server and asked Clou why I was banned. He said I should make a post in andrewKM's inbox since he was the only one who could unban me. I got back on my phone and I was unbanned. I haven't been IP banned again since then. Were you using a private or public internet connection? (public like school, work, mobile, public hotspots, etc) Usually this problem occurs with public networks.
I found the reason for this: Occasionally AT&T gives you a general, shared ip for wifi when your phone is not connecting to your home wifi correctly. You have shared this ip with thousands of people who use AT&T, and probably near a hundred different people on ECC. One of them is bound to be banned. This is not an ECC bug.
This happened to me when I was at my grandmas house. Just don't use the wifi there if your on ur phone and if your phone has a personal hotspot use that instead.
While what you say is technically accurate, I just want to point out that you can see in the screenshot that his phone is connecting via his wifi. The phone would not be showing the wifi signal if he was using a cellular data network.
I have confirmed that the ip he was using at the time was shared by at least 6 other users on ECC, and was definitely a general ip used by AT&T. I dunno about the phone's wifi signal or whatever it is showing Either way, it still isn't an ECC bug.
