There have been quite a bit of concerns regarding mob traps and I have seen several long time loyal members recieve bans and fines. I would like to propose that we utilize this thread to post descriptions of what we are planning to do with a mob spawner before actually doing anything to ensure it is not illegal. To keep everything organized, im asking only Unknown to clarify since he seems to be the person that is monitoring the rule. I would also welcome any feedback from other super mods/game admins as well, but im looking to keep things as simple as possible. Knowing unknown I think he may welcome the opportunity to reduce the amount of illegal mob traps found and having to ban and fine other users. Please only post legit requests here and make sure you read the rules. Absolutely no flaming, arguing, or trolling is allowed here. If there is any of this the thread will be locked upon my request.
I will start. First off both of these mob spawners are currenty set up by myself and active. I may be incriminating myself, but for the good of others it is worth the risk. If they are deemed illegal I will accept my punishment. I have a skelly spawner that is enclosed in a 10x10 room. The spawner is 2 blocks above the ground and creates no fall damage of any sort. I have a 5 block hallway that leads out so that I can eat and heal if nessesary and not be overrun by mobs. There is no water used in any capacity. Mobs are able to freely roam the area and are killed as they spawn. I use this format with all spawners I have in the mining world. The second spawner is a blaze spawner with the traditional set up. The spawner is about 15 blocks above a floor of a 10x10 room. There is a protective barrier that sits one block above a lowered floor to create a one block trench that the mobs float into making them easy to kill. This is a common format that I have seen everyone use, including mods. I have not changed it since the rule because I was deemed appropriate by several high ranking officials. After reading several ban appeals, i am concerned that it may be illegal.
