Fort Knox is a huge gold vault in Kentucky that backs the US standard dollar.. This prevents inflation...... In the depository, there is nothing but gold..... These are the stats... +++Fort Knox contains 4,578 Metric Tons of gold... nearly 3% of ALL the gold on earth. With the current price of gold being $1,741, the Fort contains well over 132 Billion dollars. +++ The weight of a bar being 27 pounds, it cost nearly 300k for one.. VS ECC's being WELL under that... +++ Knowing the size of a gold block, and the amount in the fort we can assume Fort Knox (in Minecraft) contains.... 237 blocks, one gold ingot, and 7 gold nuggets! One gold block in ECC cost $90, an ingot is worth $10, and a nugget is $1, we can assume making a minecraft Fort Knox in ECC would costs a total of: $21,341
Where do your numbers come from? If the weight in gold at Fort Knox is 4,578 metric tons, then it weighs 10,254,720 lbs because (4,578*2,240) = weight in lbs. If the weight of a gold bar is 27 lbs then we take 10,254,720/27 to get 379,804.4 bars. Then if you divide by 9 you will get 42,200 gold blocks with some change (approx 4 ingots and 4 nuggets). Then if you want the $ value, just multiply 42,200 by 90 or 379,804.4 by 10. This comes out to 3,798,044 ECC dollars. Good luck collecting this much gold.
Fort Knox is weak. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is the largest single collection of gold in the world and contains approximately 7,000 tons of gold bullion with a value of over $415,000,000,000. It's protected by one of the most advanced vault systems in the world which is about 24 metres below street level, and even if you did manage to get into it and start hauling gold out, have fun with the paramilitary sharpshooters once you get above ground... Oh, also, the United States hasn't been on the gold standard since 1861, which means that the amount of gold in Fort Knox has very little actual impact on the value of the US Dollar.
Fort Knox has held some pretty interesting things besides gold. At one time or the other it has held the declaration of Independence, (one of the couple original copies) The constitution, The Articles of Confederation, Lincoln’s Gettysburg address and second inaugural address, the Magna Carta, and the crown jewels of Hungary.
@ mr von, and evo......i completely agree, oh and snow not to be rude but where are these numbers coming from Boi? lol
I tried this, except it was Fort Obsidian. Instead of gold it held iron and my precious tools, unobtainables, books, strings, and at one time I think it held a ton of dirt lol. it cost me over 6 stacks of obsidian..... after you place all the gold good luck getting the material to build around it xD
