I've been wondering lately if the average Minecraft block is a foot or a metre. If it was a foot, that would mean that the Minecraft player is under 2 feet. If it was a metre, it would mean that every Minecraft player is just under two metres. To put it a different way, if the average block was 1 metres tall, a slab would be half a metre tall, where as if the block was a foot tall, the slab would be half a foot tall. And if it you got a stair block, the little stait would only be half a foot tall/long. Irl, how would you be able to fit your foot on it? I was talking to @priMELval about it and she suggested it was a different form of measurement. Maybe she's right. Maybe it isn't based off the human life at all. What ever it's supposed to be, it sure works. But it confuses the hell out of me sometimes. Like why can't you just climb over fences? Come on where did that invisible half a [insert form of measurement here] come from? It's just there. There are many things like that in Minecraft. I'd like to see some posted here. They're fun to think about! Yours Truly, Miss_Anomaly <3
There are things to suggest that blocks are measured in metres (doing /near says the players distance in metres), however I believe no one really knows and its left up to the users imagination. I may be completely wrong, but that's my take on it.
Each block is 1 meter x 1 meter. So in essence, a two block tall building is 6' tall. I know steve is 5' 8", that's why he is able to jump through them.
According to the minecraft wiki, each block is one cubic meter, although me being an Amurrican, I generally think of them being one cubic yard. This puts the minecraft player at about 5'10" which is a fairly average height for people.
It is a meter. It has always been a meter. When beta 1.8 was released, Mojang explained the enderman as "standing 3 meters tall", and in game the enderman is 3 blocks tall. The player is 7/8 of two meters, which is why you can stand under a 2 block opening or walk through a door. Hope this helped
minecraft is swedish, sweden uses metric, meter it is. Also official statements by mojang and it even says so on the minecraft wiki (As jakey pointed out earlier)
Additional info: According to F3 the eyes are at a height of 1.62 blocks. So, I think metres are more adequare, as already quoted from a wiki article and said by kuke.
