I currently have 1450 stars and having the same debate at the moment as well and I'm leaning towards an eff 7 just because mining is more profitable at the moment. Also, I prefer mining to farming melons!
Mining with Eff7- Pros: Most profitable, mcmmo helps a lot, eff7's are commonly for sale, expensive tool, requires more donation features than melons Cons: Must pay attention, watch for lava, be weary about erepairs, if in mining world watch for mobs Farming with melon sword- Pros: Don't need to pay a lot of attention, lots in circulation, cheaper than eff7 pickaxe, requires less donation features Cons: Gets boring quick, less profitable then mining, mcmmo does not affect melons Your choice. I'd suggest melon sword since you can go on for hours on end and not care at all, but if you are a person who loves to pay attention and mine and fight mobs I'd suggest the eff7 pick.
