Reason: Mcmmo Mining Double Drop, as i heard of, was removed because it had the same functions as fortune, Well i don't see this that way. Because mcmmo double drop is one of the main reasons people train mining and it also double drops items like : Coal [Ore], Iron [Ore], Gold [Ore], Lapis [Ore], Redstone [Ore], Diamond [Ore], Emerald [Ore] and Cobblestone. Fortune doesn't work on Coal Ore [Yes ORE BLOCKS]. You people out there might be thinking 'Wait, i dug coal ore with a fortune pick and it gave me double drops without mcmmo double drops being enabled!', the thing is im saying mine it with a SILK TOUCH pickaxe and getting 2 coal ore from 1. Fortune also doesn't work on iron ore, gold ore and cobblestone [The rest of the items are able to get via silk touch pickaxe.]. Let's say you mine with a silk touch and get lots of doubledrops, you can use a fortune pick to destroy those ores for even more drops, mining already makes roughly 12k an hour, double that and it's overpowered.
This makes silk picks at least worth something, also fortune will only double emerald diamond lapis coal and redstone drops. Now you can also use silk touch picks, mine, place it and mine with fortune and get a somewhat lot of items, this just increases the items you get for at most double, increasing the price of silk touch pickaxes after they got somewhat useless when melon prices fell
As awesome as this would be, it would be a very bad idea to allow double drops on ores that work with Fortune. For example, I get 2 diamond ore from one. Very dangeous because now I go home, place them and mine again until I get double drops again. Then I have 4 ore ... rinse and repeat until I have 1000s of diamond ores from the single one. Now I fort 3 them and single handily kill the diamond market. You can do it to coal, redstone and emeralds too. I can see why the double drop ability was removed. Secondly, Silk Touch picks are very valuable. Visit a melon farm hehehe I make more "mining" melons with silk touch then mining anything else with Fort 3.
