Hi there, I'm a developer that works on mcMMO, and I'm here to ask you, that's right you, your ideas for version 1.4 of mcMMO. What sorts of ideas, you might ask? Well, put quite simply, I want your ideas for new Child Skills. What is a child skill, you ask? A child skill is a skill that you cannot level directly, but instead you level by leveling one or more of its parent skills. One such child skill already exists, and you might already know about it, it's called Smelting. Smelting is a child skill of Mining and Repair, and so to level it up, you level up Mining and Repair. What does Smelting do? Smelting increases the burn time of fuels as you level up Smelting, gives a chance at higher levels to have things you mine automatically be smelted (locked to level 250+), gives a chance for items that you smelt to be "doubled", and can give you more Vanilla minecraft XP when you smelt as you (locked to level 100+). I'd like to hear your suggestions, and to facilitate that, please use this format for easy reading by me and other devs I'll have come read this: Name: <Name of Child Skill> Parents: <List of parent skills, separated by commas> Perks: What your child skill does! As an example, this is how you'd write one for Smelting: Name: Smelting Parents: Mining, Repair Perks: Increase burn time of fuels as you level up Chance to have mined things automatically smelted when you mine them (level 250+) Chance for items being smelted to be doubled Increased vanilla xp when smelting (level 100+) I look forward to your suggestions!
Name: Archeology Parents: Excavation, Unarmed Perks: -When digging with your hands (no tool), you have a chance to unearth rare items. You must have been breaking these items with your crude shovel-based excavating! These items include: All of the Music Disks Bones (from any excavation block) Heads (Creeper, Skeleton, Wither Skeleton, Zombie, Steve) Books (enchanted and normal) Bowl Glass bottle Paper Tools, Weapons and Armor Flowerpots Paintings Signs Boats Beds Bottle o' Enchanting Clocks Compass Maps (I tried to pick items that fit the theme.) -The higher your Archeology level, the longer your shovels last without breaking. At max Archeology level, they last 4 times as long (yes, this would work together with Unbreaking. Unbreaking 3 + max Archology level = shovel lasts 16 times as long). -You have a very small chance of receiving Minecraft XP Orbs from excavating. The chance increases with Archeology level.
this might seem stupid and my facts may be wrong but meh Name: defense Parents: swords, axes, unarmed Perks: well basically it would move counter attack and other defensive hint into one child skill so that somebody who has a high Level in something such as axes has the same advantage as somebody who trains swords as at a high level counter attack is op This would also give more of an insentive to train other skills along with swords because Currently swords is the most commonly trained and currently most overpowered (other than archery which is hard to train)skill. Just some ideas also wrote this on my phone.
Name: Resourcefulness Parents: Mining, Woodcutting, Excavation Perks: Allows users to activate an ability to use picks, axes, and shovels without them losing durability for (10) seconds. (Normal recharge Applies)
Name: Quick Draw Parents: Archery and Unarmed Perks: Chance to increase fire speed by "X" amount of seconds per level. Name: Movement Parents: Acrobatics (I do not feel a second parent would be functional with this skill type) Perks: Chance to increase movement speed when damage is dealt. Name: Growth Parents: Herbalism and Excavation Perks: Increase the growth rate of plants, and crops. The reasoning behind using excavation with the above is because with excavation you are digging through the dirt. All that digging will give your character knowledge on soil. Good soil helps plants and crops grow faster than bad soil.
Perhaps I need to clarify some more, because I'm seeing some suggestions with just one parent skill, and that's not really what we're trying to do with child skills. If you have only one parent, then it's just an extension of that skill. Please, try to have at least 2 parent skills for any child skills.
Have tbones suggestion, but your archery AND acrobatics depend on how fast you draw! with archery, you just go plain faster, but with acro, when hitting the ground/getting hurt, you aim faster
There aren't enough parent skills to make much, there's almost nothing you can do with acrobatics, because all the other skills are block breaking/pvp. There's no parent skill for "Running, Jumping higher" Anything to do with player movement is ruled out due to one acrobatic parent skill. So as for me, i can't come up with anything
I decided to add Unarmed as a second parent skill to this (because you dig for drops with your bare hands).
I was going to suggest this had you not added this yourself. I've also edited my previous statement to fix the first idea, and to add a new one.
Name: Cooking/Baking Parents: Herbalism, Smelting(?), Fishing Perks: More health bars for foods not farmed (Cake, Pork, Steak) All food heals 1/2 heart per 100 levels More ideas later :3
Name: Swimming Parents: Acrobatics, Fishing Perks: (I don't know which of these are even possible to implement, so I'll list anything I can think of and let you pick and choose.) -Active Ability: Water Wizard; Duration increases and cooldown decreases as Swimming level goes up. 1. Swimming speed greatly increased while active. 2. Sinking speed and rising speed (in water) greatly increased while active. 3. Flowing water does not push you around while active. -Passive Ability: Swimming speed increases with Swimming level. Max Swimming level gives double swimming speed. -Passive Ability: Boat speed increases with Swimming level. Max Swimming level gives double boat speed. -Passive Ability: Anaerobic Exercise. Same type of effects as the Minecraft enchantment "Respiration" on helmets, but it stacks with that to enhance the effect. Effect strength increases with Swimming level. -Passive Ability: Water Pick (haha). Same type of effect as the Minecraft enchantment "Aqua Affinity" on helmets, but it stacks with that to enhance the effect. Effect strength increases with Swimming level. -Passive Ability: Water Warrior. When you're in water, your attack damage dealt is increased. Damage bonus increases with Swimming level. -Passive Ability: Water Ward. When you're in water, damage received is reduced. Damage reduction increases with Swimming level.
this seems like an odd one, but meh It kinds seems like it would be interesting Child: Parkour Parents: Acrobatics, Unarmed Perks: When sprinting at a wall, you can run up X blocks depending on level (maybe auto force camera look up?) At level X, you can hold yourself onto a wall with sneak and climb up 2-3 high ledges when jumped at. When sprinting, you can jump X extra blocks forward Hope to see this added, but Thats up to you
Name: First Aid. Parents: Unarmed, and Herbalism(?) Perks: - Benefit more from Health Pots as you level up. - Chance to Benefit from a Potion of Regeneration. (Level 300+) - Chance of your party benefiting from your Heath Potions. (100 block Radius) (Level 500+) Suggestions of any Changes, Modifications, etc. Are welcome!
