Hello, Today I bought a new laptop and am wishing to transfer my MC client to my laptop. I am wondering: Is this possible and if yes how so? What will be transferred? (I.E.- Macro mod bindings and texture packs) Please tell me if this infringing on any server rules or if this is just flat out illegal. I am aiming to keep my permanent record clean thank you very much. EDIT: The current problem is outlined in reply #5 and it is still going on :/ would love some suggestions. Thanks for the help, ~sick24
I would think: Copy .minecraft from old computer to a usb stick or something Start minecraft on laptop Replace .minecraft on laptop with .minecraft on stick Done I don't see how this would be against any server rules.
TopicDogg Well it seems there are some growing pains with this new laptop. Maybe you know how to fix it. When I go onto minecraft.net and sign in and attempt to start the game in my browser (Safari) it crashes because it "Failed to Start Game." I even tried downloading it and it says "Minecraft is Damaged and cannot be opened." If it helps at all I am on Mac OS X and have downloaded the correct desktop version of MC. Any help is appreciated in advance
Do you have Java installed? Also since I'm currently on my iPod I cant really look for anu suggestions except for the basic ones. If you continue to have problems I might be able to help tomorrow in the mean time just Google the errors you get and see what you find.
Alright, now that you mention Java was giving me some grief while installing. I'll try it again. Thank you very much for the help!
Yea not a bad idea. kukelekuuk00 I would highly appreciate it if first you could diagnose my MC problem of not opening and second if I can even transfer my .minecraft from a PC to a Mac. Thanks in advance for the help!
Non really but if you were going from the pc to the mac you just need to install the new jar and start over unless your using a cloud service then it might work but, can you explain if it is a mac to a mac or a Mac to a pc?
My old comp was a PC, so it is a PC to Mac, but that is my second priority atm, look at reply #5 and see if you can help!
The only thing you can put over is mostlikley the world. Other than that probably not. You will need new mods and such for everything else.
I had this problem with a mac that I put minecraft on for me, but you will have to let me think what I had to do to get it to fix because it is a really hard to get to.
Okay looks like there is an outstanding system update which I am doing atm, hopefully that will solve the stuff, Ill be back in about 10 minutes.
I dont think it will work. I tried got a new laptop a few weeks ago, and tried to transfer pc to pc and it didn't work. I ended up having to re-download Minecraft from the website and re-download all my mods and stuff. I know that's not what you want to hear :/
Haha, dont worry clou I figured it was a long shot anyway. Even after my system update it still "Fails to start game" in browser and cannot be successfully downloaded. Any suggestions? I have already re-installed Java like 5 times :|
