Hello, I am trying to earn some money and would just like some other suggestions than melon / pumpkin farming / buying an eff 7 because I can't buy that. Thanks!
Strip mine at Y: 11 with an Efficiency 4 or 5, Fortune 3 Diamond Pickaxe. You can make a good 12k an hour by doing that. It's how I made my money for the first 4 months on ECC.
Y: 11 is the level you should be mining at (coordinate wise), it's the best to use because you'll find the most diamonds/lapis/redstone at this level, which is what gets you the most money when you strip mine.
Unless you have an Eff 7 Pickaxe, Fortune III is better than Silk Touch, it prevents you from having to refortune all your ores later. It's more of a matter of opinion, but levels 10, 11, and 12 have the highest rate for spawning diamonds and other valuables. The reason I mine at 11 is that you're above the lava level, so you reduce the risk of dying a fiery death.
Spawwwwwwwwwner farming ! That is all. But on a more serious note, I understand your lack of interest when it comes to farming to gain your money. I personally find farming to be extremely mind numbing with less compensation for your brain dead time then I feel its worth. I used to make the majority of my money mining and eventually worked my way up to an eff 7 (which is now gone (don't ask)). At this point in time, mining is still a Great way to make money but with the recent removal of xp drops from ores, the potential for profit has been drastically diminished. At this point in time I make money through the server's survival games (not a good way to make money) and through spawner farming which I find to be a good way to turn a profit. Take what you wish from this but I hope it helped you in one way or another.
I actually make a majority percentage of my money from voting. I vote for about a week or two and hold onto my rewards and then sell them when the market price is around $340. I generally make between 40-50k off that. Otherwise, I farm and fish

Basically every player on ECC has been in your situation at some point in time. I agree with the other responses above that mining is the best way to make money. I would just farm until you get enough money to buy a Eff5 Unb 3 Fort 3 pick. Then, set a timer for at least one hour and just mine non stop all that time. Never leave the mine, just /sell hand everything you get, unless you have a need to keep it for something. Also, make sure you know when to get ereps, and ask people like me for a free one.
