I think they should just be put in the complaints section. Most fitting in my opinion. Creating an entirely new section for ban requests which barely are ever filed is quite pointless and will just make the section even messier. It's fine as-is with the current sections.
What, exactly, would be "messed up" So it's fine for threads to be posted in sections that aren't relevant to them? This logic is silly, in my opinion. How often are Aether apps posted? We still have the section. What about Resource Packs & Skins? ECC Wiki Team & User Submissions? SG, PvP & Clans? Bank & Stock Trader? Nether & Aether? etc.
I guess "messed up" was the wrong word - Messier as a whole is what I'm trying to say. I personally believe "Resource Packs & Skins" section should go as it is never utilized. The ECC Wiki Team & User Submissions should stay as it is utilized often enough and the wiki is quite an important aspect of the server. The "SG, PvP & Clans" is utilized quite often so that should stay as well. The "Nether & Aether" section should be merged with the "Mining World" section to just create an "Other Worlds" section. Bank & Stock Trader are fine as-is, it is utilized often enough and it will serve a more important role when the hub comes up. Anyway, I might've trailed off a bit here. Point is, I personally don't see a need in this. I'm not necessarily opposed to this suggestion, but I personally believe things are fine as-is - As I've said above a new section that nobody ever uses will just make the forum more messy and simply just isn't necessary. I can see where you're coming from though, and there is valid reasoning/logic to add this. I just don't think it's necessary or worth the time.
Not sure why people think we need sections for every single thread that could possibly be grouped into a category -1
I think there should just be a command you can input to temp ban yourself three days. Enter command (let's say /temp ban your username) then it pops up "you want to be temp banned 3 days yes no?" "Yes" Then boom no mod lifted a finger and it isn't cluttering up the complaints section.
This is by far one of the best ideas I have heard in my time here on ECC! As for the suggestion, I think we can all live with the one or two ban requests every 4-6 months being in the wrong place
There's two problems that can potentially arise from that; First one is that I can see more experienced players trolling newer players into using the command - Even if the command is something specific, like "/tempbanme3days", its not that hard to convince other players that the command doesn't work and they should "test it out" or that it does something other than tempbanning. My other concern is that players may use this out of impulse and come to regret using it later. Forum posts take much longer to make and are more thought-out, unlike a command which can be typed within seconds. You also have time to change your mind after submitting the ban request, as it doesn't get instantly done, unlike a command.
That's why there should definitely be a second command that pops up "are you SURE you want to be tempbanned 3 days as it will be unappealable? YES/NO" Worst case scenario they learn their lesson in 72 hours. And honestly if they get through that second one thinking it's a joke, there is no hope for them, they're gonna get trolled just as bad or worse some other way.
I agree, this is the best way to do it. People are dumb, but not all that stupid. "Tempbanme" no one is stupid enough to type that.... If you troll and tell people to type that, you get a 3 day temp ban yourself. We won't have issues then.
In all honesty, if someone actually got someone to tempban themselves by trolling they should get a medal.... /tempban and then confirming with yes seems quite self explanatory.
If they get through the second command then honestly we are dealing with someone who has a full breakdown of the ability to understand the meaning of words at least in this language and we really can't worry about protecting people past that level on this medium at this time. I mean obviously they shouldn't get a medal, but any person trolled into answering the question with a yes was just saved for 72 hours from much worse imo. I think it would be an excellent addition. It would also be nice for those of us with the lack of self control that makes a self-ban beneficial but who don't want to have to make a thread and speak to the moderation about it. I just don't see any issue and only benefit.
