I've recently been farming cocoa beans at a 200x200 farm to make money. I've been making around 7-8k per hour, and replanting is a huge pain. Is there anyway to be more efficient? Or another crop that will make more profit without spending big on tools? All suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

Note: I do not have fly/speed or extcommands.

coco is really good making money in your early stages of ecc, the only down side like you said, is replanting. Also, save up your money and buy your self a max pick, And mine your brains out! That is also a really good way to make money! Good luck :)

As mentioned, just save up for a max pick, some today were being sold for 8k. Or a pumpkin axe, then no more replanting. All three of these options make roughly the same per hour or at least not drastically different but you can change it up and that makes things less tedious.

don't pumpkins come into that range without the hassle of replanting?

Thanks for the help! I currently have an Eff5 Unb3 Silk1 pick, is that considered "max"? And is it worth it to get a fortune pick as well or better to just to sell ores at the market? Also, what enchants are on a pumpkin axe?

fortune 3 definite for miners! :) obviously doesn't go with silk touch, so EFF5 Unb3 Fort 3 is a "max" pick.

I think I'm going to try mining first, but if I decide to go for a pumpkin axe I'll let you know!

My friend, @RandomCat7 taught me something he calls the "pinhole" method for mining, msg me in game and I'll show you. Also easier with night vision potions vs torches (or changing your "gamma" so you can see in the dark).

Pinhole? Is that where you have a strip mine and then you poke holes in the sides?

I think you can make more in an hour pumpkin farming then you can mining without a eff 7

But It would be extremely tiring, slashing your wrists side by side nonstop, and you always have to pay attention. I find mining with a max silk good, and I sell all the ores and keep the redstone and coal, which I fortune.

I hate farm lag, drives me crazy, maybe it's just the farm I'm using that's bad...but it's barely functional farming for me. I'm setting up a 200x200 melon farm right now and possibly 200x200 pumpkin farm to follow that, but first I"ll do the melons and see how lag is and if it's ok I'll try pumpkins next floor up and if lag starts I'll scrap it, I"d rather have a 200x200 no lag melon farm than a melon and pumpkin farm and barely be able to walk.

I've not had too much farm lag issue only on my tiny farm plot behind my house which is probably 30x30 lol

I think that if you're a darn machine that you can probably make better either cocoa or pumpkin farming than a max pick, however I would recommend any new player to switch it up so you don't end up burned out on it.
