Thinking about the LWC posts recently, I had an idea. I couldn't find any prior posts on it and maybe it's not possible.... but here it is. What if there was a location somewhere on the server where players could keep one or two double chests of items safely and indefinitely?-- no risk of losing them to LWC removal. So if you are going to be away for a few weeks or months you can keep your things there and not fear that you will be removed from a town and have your items lost to LWC. The the whole issue of LWC removal/LWC skimming/ etc.... could go back to what it is supposed to be, which is getting items to their original owners and getting locks removed so towns can continue to function and grow.
That's still not absolute, as the town can be claimed if you are inactive 6+ months. Your chests would be able to be LWC'd then. If you think this is something which should be added to the server, you should feel free to file a suggestion, right here on the forum in the suggestions section.
The way the server is set up encourages people to remain active at all times. Players are punished for going inactive, and users who return from inactivity are the most disadvantaged this way. With town claims and town move applications, it is impossible to safely store your things. The formal best way to store your items is in chests between two towns. But now that towns can be moved, there is no true safe zone.
@oxwood2 Thanks for your post and I agree. But do you think it's a good idea to have a safe house or is it better the current way to encourage people to stay active? Maybe safe storage could be purchased?
You can stick them under my vault. I cleared a area out that I don't use anymore. If I do one day need the area or for any reason I will give u a months notice to remove your items. Its just wasted space and would love to put it to good use.
I thought this was an interesting thread, and I have a lot of land ... and time ... and blocks..... keep an eye on the "For Sale" thread for a thread about something called the Bank of Lancaster.
If it were up to me, I would let a user who is regularly active (probably a staff member) or someone who logs on at least once a day to run this sort of town, and if they need to take an absence for some reason, give temporary ownership to another active player. All in all it comes down to trust. (Although you have given me quite a great idea)
And it's built ... now just to put on the finishing touches. http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/the-bank-of-lancaster-secure-storage-forever.116943/
