This is an article by LoanCorp Bank:

after extensive data collection, and calculations LoanCorp Bank has found that inflation is running extremely high on the server.

The annual inflation rate is of the ECD 47.916%

That means that something you bought at the beginning of the year for $1, would cost about $4.79 by the end of the year, this inflation is not sustainable for long and needs to be dealt with if this were to continue ECC could face a total fiscal collapse, and incredible devaluation of the ECC currency, so incredible that to fix the problem balances may need to be wiped completely, or a full new currency with a reasonable exchange rate would be necessary.

The way inflation is calculated is a formula like this:
    ((B - A)/A)*100
where A is the orgional amount, and B is the new amount, so we measured the average amount added to circulation in 6 hour periods in the beginning it was 192 million ECD in circulation 6 hours later is was 195 million, in just 6 hours 3 million was added to the ECC economy, while this could be an anomaly the average was about 63 thousand this was multiplied by 4 to get the daily amount (6*4=24) so the daily amount added is 252 thousand, which over 365 days equals 92 million, it an be +/-16% in either direction (marginal error) but either way, this is a dire situation.

Unfortunately, it is not that simple - Mainly because you didn't account for any variables at all. You didn't account for the money taken out of the economy from the many applications processed in one day, the money taken out of the economy due to Lottery Tax, or the money in users balances nullified by permanent bans on a regular basis. In addition, .Dat files are regularly cleared and the balances of users wiped out, which would account for even more money taken out.

Finally, the biggest issues I have with your math is the fact that you account for a daily increase of $12,000,000ECD. This number is absurd mainly for the fact that half of the time the server is online there are less than 100 users online(Weekday offpeak), and sometimes there is even further downtime. You don't actually know that that much money is being added to the economy in the first place: Much of it could be added from users breaking signs with millions of dollars in them, while a sudden decrease in the amount of money available in users balances could be a direct result of people storing money away in signs. Didn't you question "where is this money coming from"?

Your margin of error is also MASSIVE, which leads me to believe many more problem would exist with your math if someone chose to flesh it out even more. Since the server's existence, with current balance information we hold now, the economy has acquired anywhere between 200 and 250 million dollars in the past 2.2 years(since the last balance reset in may of 2011). I don't see how we could possibly increase the money in our server 17 fold in one year.

actually this does account for applications being processed since during the testing periods applications were processed, also, this server has more users then ever, monetary growth is exponential, the more people you have the more money in the economy via the /sell command plus yes while the 17 fold increase seems high now, u don't know how much there will be in october of 2014, all you can do is estimate at current rat plus there think about it, when the nether star came out as "another form of currency" it has been on the up and up, meanwhile stuff is costing more and more ECD, look at the n-star, when it came out you could get maybe 250 for it, they are selling for 330-340, BEFORE resale, yes the margin or error is high, but the inflation rate would still be out of control, even if just 3 million was added each day... is still a 1.6% DAILY inflation rate. Also going by your point theoretically millions could be held up in signs and unaccounted for in this inflation rate.... thus it could be higher

You must not be thinking logically if you think 12 mil is added each day, lmao, hardly over 1-2 mil is added into the economy everyday.

Inflation is when your money loses its value, and is worth less. For example, If a candy bar costs $1, and then later costs $23. That is inflation. Which means $23 was worth the same amount as $1 used to be worth.

But don't worry, Inflation is natural in an economy, it has to happen, if inflation happens too quick, it is bad news, because we wouldn't be able to afford things, if inflation is too slow, it is still bad news because it means that the economy is weak.

If an inflation rate is higher than 3% a year, the inflation is considered rapid inflation. If an inflation rate is lower than 1% a year, that is considered slow and low inflation.

Probably never in history, has the yearly inflation rate gone beyond 5%.

You claim that this economy has a yearly inflation rate of 2181.25%.

Well, since we can earn like 5k an hour in ECC, one hour can be considered one month in Real life.

If you still believe this is a serious problem and your calculations are correct, then what type of solution do you think should be used?
