How many times did you recreate this bug?: 10+ Result: I am unable to use a life sign without my pet showing himself. He is really becoming an annoyance. Expected Result: My pet stay hidden until I show him or until I log out and back in. Evidence: My pet has been showing himself sporadically over the past week or two. It is really getting worse. This happens sometimes in pvp, but not where I can recreate the issue exactly. I first thought it was when I vanished, but that wasn't it. Then I thought it was only when I logged in while in pvp, but that turned out incorrect as well. At the moment, I can only recreate the issue consistently in the end..
I tried this one of my towns in rising, New_Detroit. I am not vanished and fully visible as well. I use /pet hide and /pet toggle to hide my pet. I use a Lift Down sign, and my pet stays hidden. If I use a Lift Up sign to return to the original sign, my pet reappears. This happens every single time, regardless of which pet I am using. I tried it several times as well, same result.
It does not happen for me when I do /spawn. Tried it in both rising and legacy. However, if I do /back or use a /home, my hidden pet becomes visible after teleporting.
Bump. I figured if there is going to be an overhaul soon with a lot of updates, I might as well make sure this is considered. As others have said, I had a set of Lift signs in the end where my pet would only reappear in one direction. (If I used the Lift up). The strange thing was I had another set of signs that the pet appeared both directions less than 50 blocks away. I figured since this is still an issue, I would do some testing to help identify the issue. All tests done visible and with fly turned off. Test results: All of these - (Same world = No issues) / (Crossing worlds = Pet reappears) /spawn or /warp ls,rs /home /warp Using a portal /back All of these - Explained. /wild (from spawn) - Pet reappears /wild (from another wild) - No issue Using a Lift sign (up or down) Even if the signs are one block apart - Pet reappears /j (even one block) - pet reappeared Results: Today I was not able to recreate the single directions issues. Anything causing me to cross worlds made my pet appear. Usage of Wild from spawn made the pet appear, while using it anywhere else did not. Any usage of a Lift sign made my pet appear. Any usage of Jump made my pet appear. No other issues were able to be recreated. Hope this helps a little.
Wild guess: might it be that in the first case your pet has enough floor to spawn only on one side of the lift, but not on the other? But I know nothing of pets spawning mechanics.
I wondered that as well, so I tested that. but did not record it. Even in a block area of 1, the pet spawns. Good thinking though. I even tested floor types. No change their either.
@Emau I'm going to be butchering all pets this restart. (Sorry - only issue is you will have to recreate them. Please don't report me to PETA) Just want to make sure it's not a database issue / etc. Please let me know if this is still happening after this next maintenance (about an hour from now).
I apologize for not responding sooner. It completely slipped my mind. Pets seem to function as normal now. I have tested multiple issues, all seemed fixed. Thank you once again.
