Been awhile since its been suggested, and in light of player cap increases it seems like a stronger argument can be made for it. I realize its advertised as a hardcore economy server, but very little of the economy is trade, honestly. Also today with around 230+ for a large period of time you get a ton of spam via new players, server messages, alerts from mods telling people (in vain) to do one auction at a time etc. Combine with this more players accidentally talking in trade, not giving a crap and just using it as a personal global. You could mitigate it some by not allowing real estate type spam. Does that mean making a real estate channel? I don't know. I do know that virtually no one wants to buy a plot, premade houses etc from the 15 mayors and presidents attempting to sell them one. Its just simple multiplication killing things, more people = more mayors/presidents = more spam in trade. "Spleef" tournaments in trade, free or charging a fee. They spam looking for people, touney info, and then just keep using the channel once its begun or people have agree to join, giving directions and some giving play by play of a tournament I really don;t care about. How is a tournament trade fodder anyway? I guess if they pay an entrance fee money is being exchanged but seriously, can this be done in global instead? When we don't have 200 players on I will poke into global or even give auction a chance but thankfully when its a nightmare you are allowed to leave them. Can we please now have that same option for trade? People will still be in local (which is a blinding wall of yellow text at spawn that makes me avoid spawn like the plague, I am interested in player shops but its to much to handle). People still get alerts, shouts, server info etc. Trade chat is not the lost cause that global and auction quickly turn into with high numbers online but its really close. Sadly its not even builders that use it incorrectly most of the time but Mayors and Presidents. People who want to make a trade or buy real estate and choosing to go into the trade channel makes alot more sense then forcing everyone to see it. Today a resident was begging for free money in trade, he knew if he did it in global not everyone would get the message.
If it ups the ante on it any I would be willing to buy the ability to turn it off with ecodollars or real dollars, it can be that annoying.

This would be nice. If "Trade" channel has estate, auction reminders, Minewars, and actual selling and not "trading," it should be called sales. A general channel for "selling" anything should be something more like "Sales." I say either make one channel, Sales, that can have everything and be leave-able, or make at least two different kinds of channels; "Ads" for estate/spleef/games/events/auction reminds, maybe not leave-able, then a "Trade" or "Sales" one for actual sales, that can be left. Or.. any version of that. Trade is just as bad as auction when it comes to the amount of messages, and it's annoying. Even when I leave Global to do LWC and Grief Reports, I sometimes can't even see the logs and names that come up. Trade alone can spam too much - and other hidden channels - /and/ all of the player join messages... Having at least one less spammy channel would benefit normal players and staff. :/
We have that already, although maybe staff don't. For that I pity you if its the case. I liked auction when I joined the server but now its just to many at the same time and people can't tell who is bidding for what, when etc. Then half they don't follow any of the auction guidelines. I saw one couple days ago that after the auction was almost over the guy said the tool was almost new. People thought they were bidding on an enchanted item that had not been used. *edit I think zeno deleted his post I was quoting and refering to hehe
Well i think this is a good suggestion i hate seeing spams in Global/auc chat. so i leave them which also i want to leave Trade cause of spams sometimes. +1 on this!
