Hey, I'm wanting to know what's up and what's new in EcoCity. When I played this so long ago (~2012) it was all about farming pumpkins haha; everyone had a pumpkin farm. Those days were good, before I left home for a while. Anyways, I'm wanting to know if things have changed much. Are the towns from that long ago still around? Is there still a mining world and the wild? Pumpkins??? Thanks, Zach
So much I can't name them all. Well, here's a few things. Reincarnated joined. Reincarnated is awesome. Everyone hates reincarnated. Enjoy!
Alright, I'll try to make a list of major things that have happened. First off, towns still exist, there is still a mining world, and the wild of course. We have a /wild command now :3 2012: - Melon swords are introduced. They're efficiency V, silk touch swords which are designed to farm melons efficiently. They used to cost 2,000 nether stars and have recently been lowered to 1,800. Currently they make 15-18k/hr. - Forums are redesigned to the Flexile Dark theme, which sticks around for three and a half years. So basically most of ECC's life, as we've been around for 5 years and 2 months. 2013: - Forum Gold and Lite packages are introduced. These allow users to get tons and tons of forum perks, which of course are all very fun to have. - Survival Games is introduced. It quickly becomes popular, and kits are made to use within them. It becomes the focal point of ECC, and ECC reaches 250-300 people or so at peak. We're lucky to have half that nowadays, sadly. I blame the kits. - Pumpkins are nerfed to 40 cents each. They're still pretty solid money-makers but aren't quite as OP as they used to be. - The star pick is introduced. It it efficiency VII and silk touch, and makes even more than melon swords do. It costs 2,000 nether stars currently, but it cost 1,500 for the longest time. It generally makes about 20-22k/hr if not a bit more. - Initial ideas for an ECC hub are formulated, although progress isn't actually made on it until late summer of 2015. 2014: - A new world rises, called Rising. It becomes the primary world, and the old one is renamed Legacy. Believe that a new spawn was made around this time, though I may be mistaken. - ECC has many events around this time, including the ECC Olympics and the Survival Bowl. I was inactive during this time, but it certainly seemed that the events were a lot of fun. - Drama, drama, drama. I won't go into the entire story, but Andrew and Revan (who was SA at the time) grew increasingly at odds and Andrew was eventually driven mad by her as well as others around her. They ended up forming their own server while ECC's population dropped to a bit below its current level. The server no longer exists, however it was somewhat functional and was able to attain 10-15 members on peak times. including myself - During and after the drama, Andrew begins to delegate more responsibilities to others, as he was dealing with some other irl things (believe they were related to his mom, who died last May). Eventually, Physicistsmom would become the new owner, and she would guide the server for the next year or so. 2015: - Cooking pots are removed, due to the massive lag that they caused. However, users who could previously place cooking pots as well as those who would get the extcommands+ feature in the future were able to use a /smelt command, which instantly smelts all smeltable items in one's inventory. - The forum bank, stock trader, and sportsbook are introduced. The sportsbook proves to be the most popular of the three, with it ultimately becoming one of the most discussed topics in global if not the most discussed. - There is an SG championship, which becomes a nightmare for those not on a team. Many users accuse 7amoodw, the winner, of boosting from other players. Meanwhile, hackusations run wild, and a newly appointed GameAdmin (xX3PICREBELXx) is demoted. - Town portals are removed, due to lag as well. Luckily, the /warp command becomes available for all users, pleasing those such as myself who were without the TP feature. - The lobby for the hub is finally released. The only problem is that all other servers besides the main one are *still* in development to this day. 2016: - EULA, the stipulation that bars servers from having pay-to-win, arrives two years after an initial warning is given. Andrew is set into a mad frenzy as he strives to stay off the blacklist, which affects large servers such as PhanaticMC, GotPvP, and even helps spur on the end of Minetime. He is able to do so, and rescues ECC from a very real danger of having nearly no players. - In response to EULA, boosters are eventually created to lower the cost of features that were pay-to-win, whose prices were converted at the rate of 15k/usd. There is currently a 60% (previously 70%) off booster which allows any user on the server to buy features at this discounted rate for 10 minutes. Basically, the booster brings the prices to what they were previously, which was 6k/usd. There is also a lotto booster, which adds a certain amount of ECD to the pot as well as gives the buyer a single ticket (anything else might crash stuff). - Forums are at last updated to the UI.X theme, bringing a close to the long era with Flexile Dark. Soon after, Forum Gold/Lite users are allowed to change the forum's accent colors, which is pretty cool if you ask me. - SG is buffed incredibly. The prizes are tripled, and all kits are allowed for all users once every two hours. The kits, kits+, and kits++ are in the shop because cooldown reductions are allowed by Mojang (don't know why personally) - Direct buying of ECD for money can now be found in the bank, at a rate of 6k/usd. This makes the lotto booster more of a gamble as opposed to being the only way previously. Sorry for the EULA blabber, but it was pretty major relative to most things (though perhaps the Revan incident may have been more pivotal). Anyway, I hope you're all caught up. If you have any questions, feel free to ask myself or anyone else. Especially staff. They're always certain to help.
Thought I'd add on a little to suburb's post. I can't remember what years all the following events took place, but they're all fairly important. 2013ish: Rising world is created. It is a 2nd main world, much like legacy (the original main world). It offers more space to build on and newer biomes. Enchantment tables were blocked (in 2014, I believe). Users now right click a sign at "/warp expshop" with their desired tool in hand to enchant tools. Recently, the aether was removed and the End world added in its place.
SuburbSomeone dude I'm grateful. Can't wait to get back into this game. ECC always was my favorite server
Nah, she just became dumb. I used to care about drama, zero fucks are given by me anymore. TL;DR, drama happened, I "used" to care & I "no longer" care for literally any sort of internet drama. Welcome to the internet. My main goal is to keep ECC up for our long time players as long as possible, which I've successfully done so for 5-6+ years now. GG thanks. Also I don't know why I'm posting this video but I find it awesome.
Wow, very nice job on this history/list thing! I'm glad I know how ECC was like before I joined. Uhh, they are being reincarnated . I guess I should say they are being sold to the user noobcraft. I wish you could be staff. In fact, if you ran for staff I'm sure you would get it quick. You were one of the nicest players I saw straightaway when I started out as a builder.
I know but there's always the possibility he's doing it on this thread unconsciously. And plus, I know I'm a shitposter let's be real
*types a serious 4-year history of server for stranger* Yaeh, you're definitely a shitposter.. Andrew searching for a fuck to give
