Last night, I designed the concept for a miner's retreat. A miner's retreat would be a town with a section at or near bedrock (if void fog becomes too annoying) with a central shop area buying ores and anything found while mining as well as netherstars, and selling useful mining equipment like torches. The rest of the area made up of 'personal cubicles', 4x4 units (2x2 excluding walls, floor and ceiling) each containing a double chest, a crafting table, and several furnaces for smelting. The cubicles would be rented out to people on a weekly basis. I have done the numbers, and there would be room for 1,272 cubicles in a single floor (each floor would be 3 blocks high excluding the ceiling), a total of 25,440 if the entire underground area of my town is used, and 52,152 if the entire town is used from bedrock to the sky limit. Obviously only one floor would be needed, max. For those who have accumulated sufficient money for something more, the area above the retreat will be used as a general town area. The above-ground will be cleaned up a bit and made a bit more presentable. I will open up an 'auction' whereby people can place bids for a 'share' in the town, and would then be able to decide how the land should be used and split up, with those with the highest share (corresponding to their bid) getting the priority decision. They would also decide which areas would be for public use (e.g. community/meeting halls, spleef arenas, parks, farms, a central shop with building materials etc.) and how much or what kind of tax should be paid to support public amenities. - So, what's everyone's thoughts? If I opened the Miner's Retreat, would YOU rent out a cubicle and buy and sell at the central shop? Would you place a bid on the above-ground town?
