Hello, as the title says, I am wondering if it is worth selling my town in exchange for being bought mayor. The only reasons I would consider this is bc...
    1. A don't see my self running a town.
    2. I don't have sufficient play time to run and/or build a town/farm.
    3. I am in a town I really like.
    4. I don't want to spend the money to get one going.
Can anyone suggest if in there option if they think this is a good idea?

(Also, if I do do this, I may want to see if I could get 5% of the profit from selling perms in the town [also, do you know how likely someone is to agree to this?])

Edit: Thank you for all of your replies.

Owning land does not mean you MUST create a town that other people live in. You can just own it and do nothing with it, or have a space that you can put your stuff in (like a Vault) that no one else can access.

If you are in to building, sometimes it's nice to have somewhere to try stuff out or experiment

You can also do some farming or mining without worrying about other people getting into the area.

I have 2 "land plots" that have no town / living areas for other people. One is my Vault, the other is my playground (with 2/3 of a Helicarrier floating over it)

Ok, A: ty for the quick reply. B: I never thought about using space as a vault (Though idk how I would get back and forth as I can only set 1 home). Thank you for the reply again.

well, you don't have to support any other players in your town, it can just be a place to store your stuff, trade signs, etc, but your helping another player if they rank you up. it's your decision all and all

I would not recommend doing the exchange, for the exact reason listed above. It really does feel good to have a place that you can store your stuff and not have to worry about being evicted, or grief, or theft, plot restrictions, or anything that goes along being a resident in someone else's town. Knowing that as long as you continue to log in at least once every few months, it can never be taken from you really does make things easier.

A place you can call your own. Is there more that needs to be said?

Side thought: If you only have one home and are not in a position to get multihome soon, maybe you can make your town close to the town you live in now. So the trek won't be as far to get back and forth.

What ever you choose, I hope it works out. Best of luck.

I agree with the above, but wanted to chime in as well. Why rank up to mayor if you don't want the town? 200 extra LWCs just doesn't feel worth it, especially if you may want the town later.

I've known some people to give their town up for the rank because they can buy a town from another player for far cheaper. If you don't care where the town is you save some money. You lose out on being able to submit town feature applications though.

Err I sold my mayor and Presi town and regretted it greatly after a few months and ended up purchasing the towns back. You will realize eventually you want the town

The town will never be worth as much if you claim it and want to sell it in the future, depends how important the money if for you.

Once you get a star tool you will want some form of a town just to protect it. What I mean is that if you live in someone's town and you go on vacation for a week that can lwc your chests and legally take ur tool. In a town you own you dont have this problem.

I don't recommend it, having your own town - whether or not you have plans for it - is a nice thing to have.

You can do whatever you want with the land, you're far less limited. You can also never be evicted.
