This area is dead, let's bring it back to life! (I am sure there is at least one thread like this in here already; however, it may be necroing if I brought it back.) So, tell me: What inspired your favorite / most active / best town? Was it a movie, a TV show, something you saw in person, something you learned about in school, or from anything else? What are your favorite materials to build structures with? Woods, stones, wools, Nether blocks ... ? Do you like to use only a couple of materials, or a lot?
My town is based off of a master planned community near where I live. With the whole idea I have for the town, I figured it fit. And I like building with birch and either nether brick or spruce logs.
Inspiration: A few things. 1.) Going around and seeing all these towns in disrepair and ignored and vowing to make a town that would not become one of those, 2.) Seeing all of Outerlocal's towns and wanting to have one similar to those, 3.) The design and layout of a few Colorado mountain towns and resorts that I wanted to mimic best I could. Materials: I've been using a lot of Spruce wood/logs on it as well as other types of wood.
I think an ideal town should contain materials constructed from the local environment. If not, at least inspired by it.
Me it's all about my home state Colorado. That's where my inspiration really comes from. I mainly use stone and jungle wood and Oak.
