Come on guys, this is getting out of hand. 5+ Shouts directly in a row? Conversations through Shouts? Multicolored "Look At Me" attention grabbers? Invitations to events where someone is throwing their trash on the ground for the beggars to pick up? What, exactly, are ingame Shouts for? Come watch me whup XXXXXXXXXX's butt in SG! We can leave every other ingame chat / messaging service including SG and Lottery, but not Shouts. It's not like (some of?) the Staff can't already use the Server Public Address System (Alerts) to send something un-ignorable to the entire online population at one time if it's important. Lottery MMMMMMMMMMMANIA! I get online and immediately leave Global, Trade, Auction, VIP, SG, and Lottery. I really don't want to see all the conversations that are happening in them. I stay in Local to help out nearby friends and new people that have questions when they pop into the Lancaster area. I PM when someone I need to talk to is farther away than Local allows. I add people I don't want to talk to my "/ignore" list. I can't turn off my display (I lose the center cursor *grin*) while I'm building... which is what I am doing 80% of the time. Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Listen! Yep, I'm a crabby old man. *glares at those who take 6 warnings to "get off my lawn"* HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRR! So why does it seem like a few 9 year olds found a microphone and decided they "needed" to subject everyone to their comedy of making fart noises into it? Is there something we can do about the "fly at the picnic"? Someone MARRY me!!!!!!!!!! PPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE I thought I would get opinions from everyone before making a Suggestion thread that would end up with 5 different solution arguments... that's what THIS thread is for Poll is open for 14 days. I'll add other choices to it if needed. Even allowing you to make 2 choices instead of just one!
I feel that the people pay a decent amount for 1 shout and it is up to them (following basic rules) what they use it for. -1
It's highly understandable that people pay 1k for a shout. But the fact that they spam them 5-10 times, and multiple people sometimes spam the same shout. Which is totally unreasonable whether they are paying for it or not. One shout should get the job done, and most shouts have no point. That's like saying in a ban appeal "I am very sorry from spamming, you can take some money from my bal to compensate"
I'd say /shout is an important money sink for the economy though. But I agree that it can sometimes be annoying.
Clause 1.3 Spamming either shouts or lottery is allowed to an extent. Excessive use of either command which results in chat being hard to read may result in a warning or a kick from the Staff. But feel free to screenshot and file a complaint, but if it fills the screen, then it's against the rules as it violates the rule above
But in all seriousness, I've never seen an issue with it, and I don't think anything should be done about it really. If people want to be like that, there's nothing you can do about it. As my great grandfather said, "If someone wants to get into your house, they're gonna get into your house, somehow, someway".
It definitely seems like people's attitudes have changed more than the rules. Back in the golden age, guys like Harryhaz1 would spam shout 72k worth of shouts within a couple minutes and we'd just be like "Oh Harry, you're so silly" But I agree that we should be able to ignore shouts
Shouts can be annoying when they are used for no apparent reason. Messages with loads of colours and random statements. They are however a good advertising tool for events and such.
I think the poll should have a nothing should change option to be fair to people who don't agree with you. I have no problem with the shout system. If you're paying to send messages people shouldn't be able to opt out of seeing them.
People pay for the use of /shout. If you are having to pay $1000, the entire server needs to see it. This suggestion was already rejected and this won't happen. As for shouts being removed, that won't happen either. I think the best idea is to increase the cost of shouts.
