Following an issue or two regarding spawnshops clearances in recent weeks, we are making a change to how we handle stations which have expired. The new rule is that there will be no priority period for an owner to add time to their shop after it has expired but before staff have handled applications, effectively leapfrogging other applications. The new rule will be that once your shop has expired, applications posted from 12:01 am will be handled on a first-come-first-serve basis. This has the benefit of being clear cut and everyone knows exactly where they stand. It also removes all variables (such as the time is takes Staff to handle clears/applications) to ensure that everyone knows exactly where they stand with the timing each week being exactly the same. The new rule is: (red being removed text, green being what replaces it) Expired Stations If one of the larger stations (the front 3 rows of shops on each road) expires there will be an auction to decide the next owner of the station. If you want another users location, make an application on their expiry date at 12:01AM EST. All dates are in EST. Making an application sooner will just get you denied and possibly fined for an improper application. Regarding priority. If an existing owner has an "add time" application in after his expiry yet others are already making applications for that location; the existing owner will get priority. There is no priority period for an ex-owner if their station has expired. Once a station has expired, applications will be handled on a first-come-first-serve basis. ______ Because this could potentially be a significant change, I'm going to tag all current shop owners in this thread. Please be sure to keep a track of when your shop expires and make sure that you apply in time!

Is the existing owner still given priority if their renewal is posted prior to the deadline, yet not processed by the time a round of clearing starts? And, as MCH asked, for the more 'in demand' stations (aka the bigger ones), will they still be put up for auction rather than applied for as has been the case in the past?
Those shops will still be auctioned if they expire. Staff always handle applications to add time to shops before doing clears, so if you have an application posted before the deadline your shop will remain yours
so can you clarify please: - You can not renew a spawn shop? - The day before it expires you have to pack everything away as you can not renew and will lose everything if someone takes over. I can understand this is to do with the important positions but for me who grabs one out of the way it discourages me from having a shop if I have to keep taking it down and building it again? I suppose the answer to that is my first lease is 10 weeks I wish I had now but only went for a month, better start taking it down. Thank you for your time.
No, you can renew your own shop before the time is up. However, once it expires, you do not have the chance to renew it again.
So basically you had an incident and somebody tried to rules-lawyer their way into getting what they wanted? Sad.
Wait, so say your shop expires. Even if you manage to renew before someone snipes your shop after the expiry time, you still won't get it?
Once the expiry is hit, the station is first come, first serve again. If you are the first, then you still get it... at least, that is my understanding.
Alright, thanks. I wouldn't say so. Since the rule change surrounded an issue involving me, I may as well do my best to explain what happened. Before reading, though, please understand that I am not angry at anyone, am not trying to single anyone out, and am not trying to flame about this issue - It has already been resolved. Also, this issue wasn't the only one which helped instigate the rule change - I believe there have been a couple others recently as well. Last Sunday evening, 3 May 2015 at 9:01 PM my time, several spawnshops hit their expiry time. I went in and properly sniped station 14 a shop located right off the warp sign for redmarket2 - a great location. Here's my app: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/spawn-trade-shop-rental-application.124959/ By Wednesday afternoon my time, nearly three days later, six additional spawnshop rental or renewal applications had been filed, but none had been processed yet. On Wednesday, 6 May 2015, 6:04 PM my time, @rabidworm, the owner of station 14, went in and renewed the shop. That was over 69 hours after I filed my application. Here's his app: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/spawn-trade-shop-rental-application.125174/ His app took only 15 minutes to be processed. At this point, I was highly suspicious - Why did it take so long for my app to be processed? All spawnshop apps in the previous couple months had only taken less than a day each. Also, why was it that the first moderator who renewed his shop got his app done so quickly, even though it took him nearly three days to renew? I brought up my concerns in the shoutbox, which looking back, was quite immature of me to do. A few other users agreed that I had been ripped off, and I went ahead and forum pm'ed Dewsy about the situation. He replied saying he'd look into the situation, which it appears he did. And before I knew it, two days later, the rule was changed. I ended up with Station 55, my second-priority shop, but hey, no big deal. And that was that. So, to answer your question @Nicodemux, no, it wasn't just me "rules-lawyering my way" into getting the rule changed or getting the shop I wanted. I pm'ed Dewsy, and I'm sure he must've discussed this with phys/andrew/etc. before implementing the rule. After all, if they thought I was just complaining, and the few other scenarios recently involving spawnshop renewals were just flukes, they wouldn't have done anything to the rule, would they have? I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll be happy to answer them. Just don't flame here please
