I am suggesting that EcoCityCraft make it Illegal that you use any type of trademarked brand name company or item. Be sure to leave your opinion !
This is pointless. Absolutely pointless. What, are we expect staff to worry about when someone uses Coca Cola on something? Give me a break.
I'm not sure there is any point to forbidding use of trademarks and brands names. It's not like anyone makes any real life money off of such things on ECC. Why do you suppose we disallow this? What purpose does it serve? How does it benefit anyone as a whole?
Why is this needed exactly? To eradicate the fun on this server? This is pointless and will frustrate not just the builders but everyone else as well.
This is a Minecraft server. It's a game. Honestly, who cares if someone makes a copy of an IRL company? It affects no one. It's not hurting anyone.
And I have met (And in fact am) many users who make companies with original names, should we ban those as well? If you're going to suggest something you need to give reasoning.
Oh diddums. Just because they make copies of real brands doesn't mean its going to effect people. I haven't seen coke or walmart sue anyone on this server at all. This idea is just dumb.
Have a Kit Kat! (I manufacture Kit Kat bars in-game. It's actually just cocoa. But hey, since this suggestion isn't going to happen I have nothing to worry about!)
I think players should be able to "trademark/copyright" names, but no using real life companies and things like that. I have seen many times people stealing ideas from other companies, and I don't think it's ok. however, if you are trying to acquire any sort of copyright, the community should be able to vote if you can make it a trademark or if you can't
Please, no... this is a perfect example of why let's-vote-for-everything is a silly approach. There's stuff for which voting makes sense (if and only if voters are adequately educated), and stuff for which it doesn't make any sense ever. It would make more sense to make it at staff discretion, but I can see how it would be tricky to draw the line. If we really want to introduce copyright on ECC (and I think this might be a bad idea), then let's do it in the standard capitalistic way: if you can afford to pay huge amounts of money, you can even copyright the word "the". Yes, we would make ECC a miserable place to live, but hey, at least we'd make uncle Sam proud of us (and it would still be less miserable than if brands were copyrighted by vote). TL;DR: If we really want to implement the principle that ideas can be owned, the obvious consequence would be ECC turning into a miserable place where to live. Details of implementation would make it slightly less miserable or slightly more miserable, but still miserable. TL;DR(TL;DR): No. To both the original suggestion, and this particular comment.
i personaly agree with this! ecc demonstrates the real economy of life and copyright is part of it! I also think that we should be able to buy copyrights in the game for companies! +1
^ Concerning the actual suggestion: Exactly the same reason as above. I do not intend to refrain from using English words like candy® in my daily chat messages on a Minecraft® server while buying redstone® blocks from a shop. Two of those three trademarks I just used have nothing to do with their meaning in my message... but since we'd disallow any use of them, it would be illegal to say something like that. Imagine if we punished a violation of this rule - would you want to get banned or warned for using a word in chat that is copyrighted although you didn't know that? Just. No. Fun fact: The USPTO.gov database lists quite a few trademarks for the abbreviation "ECC".
