I would recommend stockpiling ores as a long term investment. They can be turned into xp and non smelting ores provide very big profits. I once sold some coal ore for 200.

While there are many ways to make money the best ways take time an dedication and most players/people can't sustain it for long periods.

Farming (the correct way) is by far the best as it yields the most money on average for your time. However it will take A LOT of time and dedication to make huge profits and it is very costly to setup. Sadly the promotion by others of how "easy" it is to make 10k-$20k an hour farming has led many players to jump right in expecting to make that their first hour, on a bad setup, with normal tools. To come even close to the money people toss around as "easy" takes huge investments, knowledge, and dedication. Try farming for 1 hour straight with no breaks, no chat, nothing but the most efficient farming you can do and you'll make good money, but without the right setup and tools you wont make the elusive $10-20k an hour. After 1 hour you'll probably be brain dead and bored as well so again it comes back to dedication to do this hour after hour after hour.

The Lottery gives you the highest spike income, but can't be relied upon for the long term and it has a huge risky downside. Like farming you'll need an initial investment of a large bankroll before you even try. If you watch lotto enough you'll also notice the patterns. Everyone knows how to snipe, but the really good lotto players will bait people to play, they buy random 1 tickets 5-10 minutes before the drawing to entice more people to throw in and try their luck. They can also be seen announcing the pot total, chatting in local and global about the lottery all to drive up ticket sales.

Mining gives you the second highest spike income, but again its mostly based on luck, and dedication. I can drop into the ocean and dig around and find 24 diamonds (for3 pick) in a matter or minutes, or it could take me 3 hours. If i found them in 5 minutes then its obviously better profit wise than farming, but your luck will never hold out and your income per hour will decrease until farming becomes way better. Mining takes knowledge and tools just like farming but has the downside of being all luck based. Ever find a mineshaft that someones been in and then dig 1 block over and find diamonds? Well your good fortune was another person's bad luck.

Bored at work so sorry if this is long winded lol.

The expected return from the lottery is to lose money because of the lottery tax. Play it for fun, don't think that it is a money making method. You'll only make money if you're lucky.

I joined the server a little over three weeks ago. President now, making that elusive $20k/hr. When I first joined the server, I asked around about making money. The resounding answer was: go farm. So I saved up, skipped the 10x10 plot, and found a new town with tons of cheap land. Built a large pumpkin farm, and stuck to it. Invested in Eff5 when I could afford to. As RagMan says, it takes dedication. I made my first $300k at something like 6-10k an hour. Now, I've invested well over $150k in the server's biggest reed farm. Put in the time, have a plan for growth and expansion, and riches will be yours. For me, the easiest way to make $100k is a day off (as long as my girlfriend also has work...), an audio book, and five hours of smacking canes. But it's taken me a long time and a lot of work to get to this point.

Well farming probably make the most per hour but to make high profit farm take time and a fair amount of money. My farm has cost over 20k so far and it isn't finished.

It's more about what you prefer to do. With the right set up lots of things are very profitable.

The pumpkin farm is ok. ONLY if you have someone or pay someone to afk on a railway on the farm so its fully grown before you start. (paying will cut your profit)

This was covered in the other farming threads, because a 200x200 is not efficient as it takes too long for the crops to grow. Your better off farming 1 chunk farms that have 20+ levels. A 1 chunk farm with 20 levels you can start at the bottom and by the time you reach level 20, the bottom is fully grown and you can start over. In a 200x200 you can farm all of level 1 and barely 5% will have grown back because your moving from chunk to chunk too fast. By the time you finish level 12 you'll only have ~50%-60% regrown and then you either have inefficient farming, or you afk again for hours to regrow the rest.

One thing to note on very large farm sizes is the amount of time you actually plan to be farming. With my reed farm, I currently have 31 levels. Reeds are slow and it's multi-chunk, so I only have 70-80% regrowth by the time I finish. HOWEVER, it's a massive farm. I never do more than a full clear, and then it's off to work or bed (and into the AFK cart). So unless you really think you'd clear 200x200x12 pumps and then want to do it all over again, it's a fine setup. That said, it's a massive amount of work to do something like that and I'd opt for 200x10x30 (or until you get 100% regrowth on cycling) as it's far more efficient and should fully regrow. My reed farm will also be expanded to ~45 levels.

May not be the best way... But I just like to strip mine. I dig down to one specific level and mine straight ahead for days. I have a boat load of diamonds just from that. But I also have my trade shop so I have to mine to be able to keep my store stocked with goodies. Of course making money quickly isn't a big deal to me. I'm just hoarding my Eco Cash. I mean.,. Ive been a mayor for 4 months... Lol.
