Not sure what to do about it. I just joined a town and was finishing up the final touches on my house. I was in the process of moving my items from temp chests to house chests. I literally watched the mayor of my town walk into my basement ahead of me, open one of my chests and remove all of my diamonds, Iron, Redstone, and some gold and Iron ore. He then disappeared down my mine shaft. I know it was him because after he opened my chest I opened my chest and the material I had just moved was gone. It took awhile for me to figure out the chat command to send him a message and when I did, he logged out immediately. All of that being said, I hadn't yet locked my chest, and that's my fault. Do I have any options here or am I just screwed?
I 100% agree. That's about as shady as it comes, but this kind of activity doesn't surprise me anymore...even from Mayors.
I agree it was my responsibility to lock my chests and for that I am at fault. I believe I should expect a reasonable amount of security in a town, and more importantly from its mayor. I've spent most of my time mining the funds I have and working toward being a mayor myself. As much as it takes to achieve that I guess I'm surprised that he would take what he took, which to him, couldn't have been worth very much at all considering his rank. I don't want to say his name or the towns name without trying to reconcile directly with him, everyone has weak moments and maybe he had one. My question is, should that reconciliation fail, do I have recourse with a grief report?
Unfortunately no, unless he was harassing/trolling you about taking your items and you have screenshots.
Well I guess Ill have to try and convince him of the error of his ways. That said I suppose I should start looking for a new town to call home. Any recommendations? Looking for an active town with a good community and people I can trust.
I have several towns, most of them have farms and such. My busiest town has like 3 people active in it right now since I haven't been advertising lately. Nearly grief free, and all the residents mix well with others. PM me to take a look sometime. Also, cyerye and 3point14mp are good mayors.
That's fair, but if he absolutely won't give your things back don't be afraid to tell people. After all, mayors can pretty much do whatever they want in their own towns, the only thing that keeps them in check is an honor code and reputation.
It is your own responsibility to lock your chests. Stealing does occur, therefore we stress that you get used to locking them. You are free to leave the town and find a new place to live. We do not replace stolen items. Locked.
