REQUIREMENTS Tools: Eff5 Unb3 Fort3 DPick Required donation features: McMMOBonusPlus x 3 (max Superbreaker), ExtCommands+ (e-Repairs), ExtCreations+ (/smeltall) Other Requirements: 1000 Mining (max Superbreaker), modify options.txt brightness to see in the dark (no time wasted on torches) OPTIONAL BONUSES Tools: Eff5 Unb3 DShovel (you can power through dirt/gravel or skip this and just go around it) Armor: all optional, but I use a combination that gives me max Respiration, Aqua Affinity and Depth Strider for rare times when I am under water/lava. Lava Protection: Pyro+ or Fire Protection armor or Fire Resistance Potions (So you don't die). Suffocation Protection: Water+ (So you don't die). Fall Protection and more: I have Fly/Speed+, but I consider it optional because I mine at /speed 1. It can be useful to fly here and there, but you want your feet on the ground 99.9% of the time. Other Optional bonuses: /feed (no time wasted on food), Multihome (save a homepoint in the mining world so you can always go back to mining immediately), /back (get back to your mine if you forget to set a home point) -- These are conveniences that make things a little easier/faster. TECHNIQUES Superbreaker: at 1000 Mining and McMMOBonusPlus x 3, you get 34 seconds of Superbreaker. Also, you only have to wait 150 seconds for your next Superbreaker. Getting the most out of your Superbreaker is the key to Fortune 3 mining. During Superbreaker: Your goal is to break as many blocks as possible during Superbreaker. Do not change your Y-altitude during Superbreaker because this will make you go air-borne and it will kill your block-breaking. I recommend not digging into the floor at all during Superbreaker, only dig the walls and ceiling. I tend to dig out a square-ish room, going around the outside edge of the area progressively making it bigger (don't forget to hammer the ceiling). Do not bother collecting the ores in the floor/wall/ceiling unless the blocks are in right in front of you (you will come back for the ores after Superbreaker). After Superbreaker: Quickly run around the cleared-out area and collect the ores veins that are visible. Immediately after collecting the exposed ores, begin digging straight ahead in a 2x1 tunnel in whatever direction you happen to be facing, just start digging ASAP. Collect all ore veins that you see as you go. As soon as you finish with an ore vein, start digging your 2x1 tunnel straight ahead in whatever direction you happen to be facing. Don't waste time trying to re-orient yourself after each time you find/dig ores. Every now and then right click to test how long you have until Superbreaker is ready. You want to be using it the instant it becomes ready again. Y-altitude: I recommend trying to stay near Y=11. I've read data that suggests Y=10, Y=11 and Y=12 are the most profitable altitudes to be at on ECC. Y=11 has the advantage of being just above most lava sources and this will make things a bit faster for you when you encounter lava. It is okay to drop down a few levels or go up a few levels as you finish off an ore vein, but try to return to around Y=11 when you can do so conveniently/quickly. Also, you want to keep your feet on the ground as much as possible. When air-borne, mining speed gets killed. I try to mine all the ores below me, then drop all the way down in a single drop so that I'm not in the air as much. Selling: When my inventory is getting full, I use two commands: "/smeltall", then "/sell all". Then I just keep on mining. No time wasted on selling stuff to a spawn shop or putting items into chests/trade signs, or trying to sell stuff in Trade/Auction. Mining goods are barely worth more than /sell, you make more money if you just use /sell because you can get right back to mining with no delay. I just save up my EXP until I'm ready to sell it to someone or sell it in my shop. I typically use the midpoint of EXP prices to calculate my dollars per hour. For the purpose of that calculation I am currently using $.75 per point of EXP. Ores: Break every ore, including Coal Ore. EFF7 miners skip Coal Ore if they're smart. Fortune3 miners should never skip an ore.
I'd recommend using /sell blocks instead of /sell all, that way you don't accidentally sell your food. You can also make use of /eec to put your ores in it.
This is an awesome tutorial to help anyone at any level be able to make more money while mining. I only have one additional note regarding this comment: "Every now and then right click to test how long you have until Superbreaker is ready. You want to be using it the instant it becomes ready again." I personally like to use the commands - /mining and the /mcsb keep to be able to see exactly when I can use superbreaker again!
......or, just get an eff7, have an easier time of it, and save all the money from the MCMMO bonus donations. And smart eff7 miners do NOT skip coal, they use fort3/superbreaker on it.
Mcmmobonus is OP for many things on ECC, and it even helps EFF7 miners to fortune their ores. So there are many reasons to get it, it is one of the most powerful donations on ECC. about coal ore: lets say someone gives you 6 stacks of coal ore for free and you have the perfect setup for fortuning it. It will take you about 5 minutes to place all of the ore and to fortune it, absolute best case scenario. You will gain $1152 from the coal (including the EXP); I was generous and gave you $3 of value per coal ore. $1152 per 5 min equates to $13.8k per hour. You are making less money per hour in this scenario than you get from mining. Keep in mind this assumes free coal ore, fastest fortuning and maximum value. In reality, this number probably drops below 10k per hour. You would be better off throwing free coal ore into lava than you would be taking the time to fortune it, as long as you are competent enough to beat 13.8k per hour. I am. Therefore, good miners who use Silk Touch are lowering their $ per hour when they collect coal ore to fortune it. Coal ore is only worth it if you are using fortune on it directly at the mining site so you dont have to place it down and break it twice.
So we agree then, cool. To be clear, smart eff7 miners (who switch between eff7/fort3 while mining ores, as appropriate) ONLY break coal ore when SB is active... they skip it when it is not.
A great tutorial. It would be great however to make it more noob friendly or those who don't want to spend like a couple hundred dollars.
Tbqh I would rather spend like $90 in features for McmmoBonusPlus x3 then spend 750-800k on an eff7, plus this post got me thinking of getting these features [ty bout that] and my question is, what does the 1000 mining do exactly? How long will the SUperBreaker be at max mcmmobonusplus? What's the difference, in other words lol I currently have the first Mcmmobonusplus atm, saving up for the other 2 Overall, great post, very helful and if you could help with my quick question that would be awesome Thanks
