NEW AND NEW-ISH PLAYERS! Did you know that it's possible, and even quicker, to earn your way to Resident or Mayor without constantly asking for donations in trade chat? Did you know that asking for money is far more likely to annoy hard-working players all over the server than it is to make enough in donations to justify it? Those statements are both equally true. SCROLL DOWN AND READ THIS THREAD FOR IDEAS! Older players, do you get as tired as I (not really an OLDER player, no) do of players who spend more time asking for money than it would have taken them to gather the money themselves with a little work ethic? I do, but I might just be cynical. So I started this thread to give us (the annoyed and impatient) a place to give you (the asking-for-free-money) ideas on how to make it yourself early on in the game. Older players (and new non-mooching players like me) -- post how you did it! I farmed cocoa at first, because when you don't have good tools, it's surprisingly lucrative compared to other, seemingly more exciting crops. I mined patiently and made myself diamond tools from the diamonds I found. That was good enough for Resident. Then instead of just saving up for Mayor, I spent some of the money (still cocoa-farming and mining) for a Pumpkin Axe (en eff5, unb3, for3 axe) so that I could make money faster. Then I got perms to a couple of big farms, THEN I started saving for mayor with an income stream in place (the pumpkins). A lot of this was boring (so boring, the pumpkins), and I had to take breaks... but then I had earned Mayor, and that was great.
or you can wait untill after i have alll my devts finished off and then ill be giving away 15k to a random builder atleast once a wekk!!
Yeah, begging is getting on my nerves. To any beggers, you will not make as much money being lazy and begging then if you work. I like to mine. You should start of by getting a diamond pick and start mining. Sell diamond and gold to the spawn shops which has a portal at spawn sell the rest with /sell hand. When you get enough money you should consider upgrading tools. You cant enchant with enchanting tables but there is a EXP shop where you can enchant tools. Or you can buy these enchanted tools for others players. Atm EXP is quite cheap so max pics (eff 5 fort 3/silk 1 and unbreaking 3) are quite cheap. I got mine for 8 or 9k. Other ways of making money is SG, but without kits, its hard to make any money. From the max pic there is a STAR pic. Enchants are EFF7 unbreaking3 and silk touch 1. Its really a beast pic but for 1500 nstars, its alot of money. Thats about 800k-1 million. If you plan on getting a Star pic you can vote. There is a button on the top toolbar kinda thing that says " Vote" Hover over that and the vote link are there. There are other star tools like a Melon Sword that cuts melons quick. Star shovel, cuts though stuff like dirt, sand gravel etc. there a a few more of the stars tool that cn be found in-game. I hope I helped. If you have questions, just post here. With a max pic you can get about 5-10k per 1 hour run and a eff can make 10-15k or more per 1 hour run.
I cant even remember how iI ranked up all those years ago, But i fond these days that just going around and collecting bits and pieces can be fun. I tend to make quite a bit of money from leather, and other mobs drops. Mob spawners can be picked up cheaply (1k) and if a skele spawner, drop items that are $1 each. I also like collecting clay. If you find the knack of where the clay usually is, then i thin its not a bad money maker either. I would also look put for Stone hills, the coal you can get from these are great. Sure both these methods seem long winded. And can be made better with good tools, but Accompanied by voting you it doesnt take long to get there. Vote 3 times a day : 3 Nstars Minimum ($480 each) $1460 Thats 10 Days to resident in itself, without actually playing the game. I reckon you could make 1-2k a hour on /wild land picking up clay as well as picking up other materials such as wool, coal, leather etc. Then your xp cause your killing animals and mining coal. Youll be there in no time with hardly having to make anything.
Farm in the wild, and mining. Bounce between the two and you will be resident. Resident to mayor could require help, but never beg. Find something that you can do that adds value for someone else. That value will translate into cash. This server has one of the best communities I have seen, someone will help. But, be above begging.
Somehow I don't remember exactly getting from builder to resident but I'm sure it was from mining and farming. I worked my way up from stone to iron to diamond tools and never once did I beg. I spent the time that this took making friends, building relationships, which then means if you do need help it is usually easily given and often you don't even have to ask! Finding a good town and community helps to keep you going, even when you die in lava for the fifth time and lose those great tools you just got, somewhere is there to laugh it off with you and offer you a hand.
Now that I think about it... in the two years that I've been here I've never thought of going above mayor, and the two ranks that I've gotten they have been pretty much gifted to me. When I was a builder, I was asking in tr for a job to help me get to res, and Advocate gave me the 12 or 13k I needed to get res, and I did. And abot a year ago, an irl friend bought me 90k ecd as a christmas gift and that got me Mayor. I guess I've had it quite easy compared to some other people; but at the same time, those people have made me want to try and give back to newer players. I don't randomly give buildets resident, buy i help them out in finding them good places to farm and builder towns. I agree that builders and residents shouldn't beg for moneý. But at the same time I believe they should be helped out and recieve support from the rest of the community.
Well on my other account, @SmileZisGFX (I don't remember the email+password after not playing MC for 1.5 years) if I recall correctly, I bought a place to live that had a pumpkin farm. The owner of that town @Smitedyou1 (who was a great friend, but quit eventually and I left shortly after) gave me a pumpkin axe. So I used that to get Resident. Then I believe I got lazy and sold Smited's brother multihome for 85k, which got me Mayor. On this account, I mined until I got 10k. Then I bought perms to a large farm, in which I farmed sugar cane for a few hours. That got me enough to buy a pumpkin axe. I then realized that mining is much better, so I got a max pick. Now I could buy mayor, but there really isn't a point to me. I might eventually buy it to make a giant melon farm if I ever get a melon sword, but when I got mayor on my other account, I realized there really is no huge benefit.
Lotto is the best way to get to Resident. Drop One ticket every lotto, and you're bound to win sooner or later.
Sooner or later, or after you lose all the money you inevitably had to work for... Lotto is not the answer.
@jmichael214 Great idea this Jmichael and I have to say I agree that the begging in chat channels coupled with the pms does get old (like myself). I have more than enough to contend with funding my daughters towns, ranks, features and tools. I started out creating a small farm in the wild and like yourself soon found that cocoa farming was the best place to start. It really doesn't take long cocoa farming to be able to buy your very own enchanted tool. I went with a max fortune pickaxe and never looked back earning around 8k per hour and finding spawners along the way which I would sell on after having sheep_mage help with the set up and water placements. I then got very lucky with a spawn shop Jakeyray was kind enough to sell me and within 3 days I was offered around double what I had paid for the shop by kick_me Long story short I enjoy mining to earn money when I need it. Farming for me gets boring really quickly and offers no xp which new users will need to obtain the tools they want. I very rarely give anything to those constantly pming or posting in chat for funds. I tend to look for people or causes worth donating to and learned this lesson in my early days of mayor when paying for a number of builders/residents to rank up only to never see them again or watch them throw it all in the lottery. I don't think it would mean as much if I had got to the position I find myself in now by constantly asking others to provide me with money.
That's the worst idea to make money, ever. Chances are, you will lose your money and not win any lottos
When i first joined i went to the mining world and got killed by people constantly so i went to the mainworld and used a plain diamond axe to farm pumpkin till i got enough money to buy and eff4 axe, and i farm pumpkin till mayor. This was before eff5 was possible to get and pumpkins were worth money.
Umm... I'm still builder. But, I have a lot of input when it comes to money making. Save a ton up, get a good tool, and farm/mine/sg your butt off.
