This thread is fairly simplistic. I'm wondering exactly how much money Efficiency 7 mining makes.
If you own an Efficiency 7 pickaxe, please reply to this thread telling how much money you make and how (detail please!) you make it. The following format would be nice, but is not necessary:

    Code:
[B]Do you have an Efficiency VII Pickaxe?[/B]

[B]How much money, per hour, on average do you make with it?[/B]

[B]What is your strategy when mining?[/B]

[B]What donation features do you use when you mine?[/B]

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have an Efficiency VII Pickaxe? Yes, I got my own around a week ago, but had numerous interactions with them for about a month prior.

How much money, per hour, on average do you make with it? Before I got Mod and still had a lot of free time available, I conducted multiple tests in which I would mine for a whole hour straight. I was able to get a consistent 35k with my pickaxe. On average though, talking pretty actively but not going out of my way to help others, I got 28-30k. This is no longer applicable, since I'm constantly caught up in staff duties. In my current state, I've been getting around 10k an hour, and that's when I can even concentrate enough to mine.

What is your strategy when mining? I generally mine at Y: 11 and mine in a straight 2x1 tunnel. I'll use /speed 2.5 for my walking speed to maximize the ground I can cover, while not overwhelming myself with how fast I move. In addition I ignore coal as well as have macros that automatically sell my stone/dirt/gravel/glowstonedust.

I also know a player SolaceDevotio that can make 40k an hour by "Quarrying", which is a method where you essentially just mine out the level Y: 11 and collect everything you find, excluding coal. I haven't been able to replicate that success, and end up making less than my normal method, but I'm by no means the master at the technique.

What donation features do you use when you mine? Fly and Water. I mine in the Main World so I can fly around my mine as I please. It makes mining 100% smoother, and greatly increases your profit. In addition, it also let's me use the /speed command, allowing me to go 2.5x faster than usual when sprinting/walking. The water is used when I find some sort of ore that's hanging on the ceiling or attached to the wall over lava, I'll plop down the water and stand on the obsidian.

Overall this works very well, and can double what you make with a Melon Sword. The downside is it takes a lot of attention so you don't miss ores or fall in lava, unlike the melonsword where you can essentially not even look at your screen for long periods of time. Hope this helped!

:3, simply explaining how it works. Without certain features the Pick is a lot less effective, and different situations dramatically alter the profits. And btw...
So yes, I wanted to be thorough xD

Do you have an Efficiency VII Pickaxe? Yeah

How much money, per hour, on average do you make with it? 40k

What is your strategy when mining? I mine everything at level 11 and 12. I used to mine in a 1x2 tunnel with eff5 but doing so makes me less money with my eff7. I follow any veins I see beyond 7=11,12 except for coal. I do mine the coal at 11 and 12. I have /powertool on stone and that makes an extra couple hundred every few minutes with only a flick of the scrollwheel right and then left when I can't get macromod. With macromod I sell stone and repair without pausing at all. I find that cutting corners for efficiency here and there really add up. Also, unlike Falcon, I try not to talk. :p Pausing to type really cuts efficiency. I often mine only in extreme hills for the emeralds.

What donation features do you use when you mine? Fly+, Water and Water+, Pyro +, and whatever it is that gets you /powertool.

    Umm... thanks? XD
Thanks a lot! That really did help my understanding of Efficiency 7 mining ;). Thanks for the detail too!

Wow, that is an interesting strategy, especially the Extreme Hills part seems like a great idea. Thank you for your help!

Its impossible for it to be a waist of time, but with eff 7 its a 24/7 super breaker, so either way it doesnt matter.

While you're actually mining with the eff 7 it had little impact, though it does make it so you can instabreak ores which you can't do normally. However, Super Breaker is awesome when you're fortuning your ores, and I recommend using it while you fortune.

Whenever I use Superbreaker on my Eff V pick, I always get those invisible lag blocks. Am I going to be able to use an Eff VII pick effectively?

You should, as it's generally not a problem with the eff 7. A tip: if you right click with your tool in the area of the invisible block, it will become visible again and therefore breakable.

I forgot to mention torches and /speed. Torches are a terrible waste of time. Turn up your gamma in your options.txt to 10 or so if you haven't already. As for /speed, when I'm seriously mining I use /speed 5 or so. If I go higher I get motion sickness, but eff7 can handle /speed 10 if you can. The faster you go, the more you make.

Thank you. Based on this comment I rented one for a few hours. I had no issues using it at all (other than finding a large enough area to work in that had not been hollowed out). :p

I definitely see me getting one of these in 3 months. (or less)

Do you mine at a certain distance, then go back and collect the ores? Or do you just mine them when you see them. Also, what is your mcmmo mining level?

Im sorry, I'm just very confused about what you mean by "follow any veins I see beyond 7=11,12 except for coal." Can you please explain it a little?

My Mcmmo level is 550 (roughly). The way I mine is that I'll go straight and stop when I reach a patch of ores, I'll mine the ores, and continue on my way. In order to keep my inventory clean, I have Macros set to sell stone and other undesirables as I go.
