Do I have to purchase one of the lots in the marketplace to be able to sell/but or can I place my shop anywhere?
Please note: You can make your own shop in any town for free (like a home, but a store), but the traffic won't nearly be as high there. Where ever you decide, make sure you advertise in the trade channel to make people aware. The link is strictly for the "marketplace" shops. So yes, you make one anywhere without purchasing a shop. But a marketplace shop is great for business.
