After recent visiting of an old server I used to play on, I was reminded of all the cool things one can do with all the redstone features in the game, (piston doors, giant hopper and redstone storage systems, piston elevators, etc.), and really missed using these. As I mainly used to play on AEM, ECC is becoming my main server as well as that's where I know the most people now. None of these things can be done on ECC, which brought me to a quesiton; if someone puts the time, effort, and knowledge into creating an auto-farm with such tools as hoppers and pistons, why can't they use it? I understand its in attempt to create an even playing field for players since rankups are with IGM, but I think if people but the time, effort and resources into an autofarm, they should be able to use it. At the very least I believe autofarms could stay banned from the server, but why not make pistons and hoppers and such available to be creative and make things like doors, elevators, auto-sorters, etc? It drains creativity and options for builds on the server in my opinion, for me anyways.
Because we are an economy server, each item is worth money. An auto farm defeats the purpose of working for your money. We heavily discourage automation on ecc. (Check the rules regarding this, full automation while afk can result in a ban for most things). Regarding pistons/hoppers/etc. They all have immense duplication bugs that have not been fixed, and likely won't due to them being in vanilla minecraft too. If you ignore all the dupe bugs and say screw the economy - there's also the factor that pistons and droppers/hoppers/etc all can be used to crash servers extremely easily. Sadly, this is not something that we can ever enable on this server.
When (or at least I hope it's a when) Skyblock comes around, can we expect to see pistons and hoppers and such there or not determined yet?
Jamie, would you mind terribly providing us a list of things that will not result in a ban using full automation while afk? As a side note, I really appreciate all the work that you and andrew have been putting in for us lately. Thank you for your time and effort spent on here for us.
Honestly skyblock needs it's own eco, part of skyblock is automated stuff. Take a stone generator for example, if you don't have pistons pushing the stone out it shoots upwards where the lava is burning it. Yes you could just use a cobble gen and smelt it but if that was the way stone would be worth a lot as you need trees to get wood to get charcoal to smelt cobble that you mined into stone. All those steps would take time and more time taken to get said item the more it's worth. Thanks, zBulldawg
