This is a short list of misspelled/misused words that I frequently see in these forums and in-game. For example, grammar is spelled with two a's, not an e. Didn't know that, did you? This isn't a rant or a grammar lesson, it's just a fun thread that I decided to make. I decided to include the misused/misspelled word, the word that it is supposed to be, and the definition of the word. Feel free to add your own. I found this humorous post by antcubing regarding grammar tolerance, so I decided to share it with you guys. http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.ca/20 ... thing.html Ever wonder what the British mean when they call you "arseholed"? Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 The proper way to say 111,111 is "one hundred eleven thousand one hundred eleven". No "and's". Added to the list.
Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 I find that the example is grammatically incorrect. I would assume it reads "I went there to farm pumpkins" or "I went there to the pumpkin farm". I am a victim of extensive spelling and grammar classes as a child. I write books as well.
Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 Laugh out loud, this thread is great. Hope I didn't make any mistakes while construction the previous last sentence.
Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 You didn't make any mistakes while constructing your previous sentence. But you made a mistake on your second one. It's "constructing", not "construction". Added.
Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 I love how people unknowingly give me more words/phrases for my thread while commenting on it.
Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 Misused Word: grammar Correct Word: orthography Definitions: the art of writing words with the proper letters, according to accepted usage; correct spelling. the part of language study concerned with letters and spelling. "Payed" is not incorrect grammar, it's not even a word. It's incorrect spelling. (You might be right about "their, they're, and there" and a few other things, though. I think those count as grammar.) The irony of it all... I'm sorry, I just had to correct you there.
Re: Grammar Days with dpatt711 I decided to name this thread "Grammar Days" because it sounds way better than "Orthography Days". And if you look closely, I actually am aware that some words have grammar problems while others have incorrect spelling. I put "Misspelled Word" before misspelled words and "Misused Word" before misused words and grammar problems.
