Minecraft Username: Frostystorm1 Brief Description: I was in rising at my town chillville when I went AFK for a couple minutes. I was in fly and i closed the screen. I came back a few minutes later and the death screen showed my items on some sand blocks outside of the water and there were no blocks or lava around me indicating that someone killed me. I immediately came back to the town, only to find that all the items were gone. Sidenote: I had a vanilla client and no power tools so I couldn't have hit a macro. Instructions: 1. Be in /fly above water level. 2. Close screen. 3. Somehow glitch out of /fly and drown. How many times did you recreate this bug?: 1 time ;-; Result: Died randomly with an eff 7 and items landed on the sand blocks outside of the water where i had supposedly drowned in. Expected Result: To still be in /fly when I came back and not be randomly dead. It didn't make any sense how the items dropped on land and i was not in the water at all according to my death screen. If i had actually drowned, the death screen should have showed me underwater or at least the items under water. Either way, it does not add up how i even got out of /fly in the first place Evidence: I forgot to screenshot the death screen since I freaked out and immediately went to go find the items, but @Imaginex did an ID search and confirmed that I had died in my own town of chillville.
I believe this is because water is a safe surface, I'm not sure whether I want to change this. I'm leaning towards not.
I think changing it is a good idea. Frosty fell in the water and drown and lost an eff7. People log off with fly on because they believe they are safe, but if they are over water and dont have water+ they are not safe. I feel like this is not something that is well known so it would be possible for other people to die and lose stuff to this bug.
Yeah I +1 this, i closed the screen thinking i would be fine since i was flying and i genuinely believed i was completely safe. I had no idea this was a problem and i lost about 1,500,000 eco dollars today because of something that really doesn't even do anything good. It pretty much means I'm going bankrupt and ill be stuck paying debt for a really long time and i dont want it to ruin anyone's experience on ecc.
Out of curiosity... does /fly consider anything to be a safe surface is the player is only a few blocks above the ground? As an example, see obsidian in https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/146984. /fly did not enable because I was too close to the ground while testing, over the past year this has worked on pretty much any material* (without /2fa). * During some tests I managed to fall more than ten blocks, I have since stopped disconnecting if I am less than 20-30 blocks above the surface.
Yes I tried this at multiple y-levels and different surfaces as well, all result in fly being shut off. The only difference is that the server doesnt care if you are flying over water or lava and it will shut off fly either way.
To be quite honest, it turns it off when you log in. I just don't see how this would be a problem when your there to log in... unless your using something that will auto relog then it becomes a problem when over water... you can easily save yourself if you log in and start falling into water
I had a frozen screen and I didn't watch myself drown obviously so there may have been a wifi connection problem, but if this bug didn't exist I never would have drowned in the first place.
Agreed. Even if this isn't changed Frosty should still be refunded an eff7. I mean after all @y0landi got his 2 elytras back...
droppin' some knowledge on the admins... it would be screwed up to not refund items when they are lost due to server issues. Player retention is a serious problem, and having server side glitches make people lose items, then not refunding those items will just hurt the player retention even more.
Honestly, as this isn't a new issue, I don't see a point in making a big fuss about it now, and not back 3-4 years ago when the safelogin feature was added. Realistically, we can refund it, but I agree with bobby, you need to be in control of your account when you're logged in. It's up to @ClarinetPhoenix @Imaginex whether to refund or not.
