Gifs for Avatars feature

Maybe it's just me, but I think I saw someone with a "gifatar" on the forum already.

 

frenchhornplayer. It's not actually possible any more, he just hasn't changed his in a long long time.

 

Ahh, that makes sense. They probably disabled it for a reason, then. And I can easily tell what that reason might be.

*facepalm* Ah no. Gifs aren't usually very large. I was thinking they could really look pretty spammy. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

 

Nah, gifs don't animate unless you go to their profiles. Gifs take up a lot more space than an equally sized jpeg though, given they don't have only a few frames.

Oh. Odd. guess it's related to filesize.

 

The weird thing is, I saw this user a few days ago... and until yesterday, it was only animated on the profile. Now it is animated on normal threads...
