I am making a little tutorial to show you how to make the most EcoDollars out of your tools, telling you the durability of tools, the price of blocks, and how much money you could make by breaking certain blocks! Im not going to list every type of block in the game, just the basic ones that are abundantly found in the world.

**NOTE: These are prices from selling to the SERVER. You can make MORE MONEY by selling the blocks to other players and help keep USER ECONOMY running better!**

    [Tool] [Cost of materials(server price)]
-----[block to break] [Total profit from blocks (server price)]

    Shears: $20 : 238 Durability
    -----Leaves: $11.90
    -----Vines: 23.80

    Gold tools: 33 Durability:

    Gold shovel : $20.10
    -----Dirt/Sand/Gravel : $1.65
    -----Clay : $33
    -----Snowballs : $4.30

    Gold Pickaxe: : $60.10
    ----- Cobble/Stone/Netherrack : $1.65
    -----Sandstone : $6.60

    Gold Axe : $60.10
    ----- Logs: $13.20
    ----- Wooden Planks : $3.30

As you can see, Gold tools are a HUGE waste of money. You can only make a tiny bit of money from Clay and gold shovels, although you can save making the shovel and just punch clay with your hand!

    Wooden Tools : 60 Durability

    Wooden shovel : $0.20
    -----Dirt/Sand/Gravel : $3.00
    -----Clay : $60.00
    -----Snowballs : $6.00

    Wooden Pickaxe: : $0.40
    ----- Cobble/Stone/Netherrack : $3.00
    -----Sandstone : $12.00

    Wooden Axe : $0.40
    ----- Logs: $24.00
    ----- Wooden Planks : $6.00

Wooden tools can make a profit on anything they break, but they are the slowest tool for breaking blocks, and only recommended for very basic block breaking when you have no cobblestone around.

    Stone Tools : 132 Durability

    Stone shovel : $0.15
    -----Dirt/Sand/Gravel : $6.60
    -----Clay : $132.00
    -----Snowballs : $13.20

    Stone Pickaxe: : $0.25
    ----- Cobble/Stone/Netherrack : $6.60
    -----Sandstone : $26.20

    Stone Axe: $0.25
    ----- Logs: $52.80
    ----- Wooden Planks : $13.20

Using Stone tools is one of the best ways for everyday jobs! They are the cheapest tools to make, with decent durability and break blocks at a moderate rate. Stone tools are one of my personal choices for most block-breaking jobs.

    Iron Tools : 251 duability

    Iron shovel : $10.10
    -----Dirt/Sand/Gravel : $12.55
    -----Clay : $251.00
    -----Snowballs : $25.10

    Iron Pickaxe: : $30.10
    ----- Cobble/Stone/Netherrack : $12.55
    -----Sandstone : $50.20

    Iron Axe : $30.10
    ----- Logs: $100.40
    ----- Wooden Planks : $25.10

Iron is a great tool for its durability and breaking speed, but using iron tools to farm certain blocks will make you lose money! Personally, I only use Iron to break minerals such as Redstone, Lapis, and Diamond, using Stone tools to break more common blocks, allowing a single Iron pick to last quite a long time.

Diamond Tools : 1562 Durability (current diamond price: about $60)

    Diamond shovel : $~60.10
    -----Dirt/Sand/Gravel : $78.10
    -----Clay : $1562
    -----Snowballs : $156.20

    Diamond Pickaxe: : $~180.10
    ----- Cobble/Stone/Netherrack : $78.10
    -----Sandstone : $312.40

    -----Obsidian : $31,240.00

    Diamond Axe : $~180.10
    ----- Logs: $624.80
    ----- Wooden Planks : $156.20

So with how cheap Diamonds are these days, using the extremely high durability to your advantage can make quite alot of money. Keep in mind that these are just common blocks, not ores and minerals. Although its HIGHLY unlikely you will ever come across 1500 pieces of clay or obsidian, you can still make alot of money off of them with very little effect on your tools.

    Thank you for reading!

Glad I could help, MoofinK :)

And yes, Arb, there is a way to farm obsidian. But i would need a lava source, a trapdoor, a water source, redstone, and some clever construction

Obsidian generators are not allowed. You can, however, make a "farm" (people do it by manipulating natural water) in a cave or serious of caves that have lava. You have to work that way, by manipulation of water... Which is hard. c.c

There isn't a written rule on obsidian generators, but I think Andrew did say they weren't allowed in the past...I'm not sure

Back before I got resident, I always mined obsidian for money by manipulating natural water. If you're good at it, you can make mass obsidian that will last you hours.

Well, I will ask Andy about obsidian generators... its not like it causes lag or anything :p and it costs a piece of redstone and 15 seconds... I dont see why it would be banned, though

I can see them banned for the fact that you don't put much work into it... xD I mean, you spend an hour making the generator, but after that, it is easy. Manipulation of water or carrying a couple buckets around (then going back for more) takes much more time. -shrugs-

Well, I can just spawn myself water and dump some pieces on a lava lake if I wanted, but thats easily abusing my powers and I would be harshly punished ._. But the work itself is mining obsidian! its such a beating to have the patience of hitting a rock for 15 seconds. You get a stack of obsidian and you see that almost half an hour has gone by already! And for only about 1.5k, which you can get more from punching reeds. Although the actual math of obsidian and reeds is that they both make 4.8k per hour if done precisely and constantly. Although finding obsidian is quite rare, and while mining obsidian, you break a piece and you see lava right below it, or lava on the other side flowing at you - 1 mistake almost guarentees death and loss of items if they fall in the lava - which could be a very expensive loss. If im mining obsidian and nearly fall in lava, my whole body literally goes cold for a second and my hands start shaking for a while >.>

I dont even know what im saying anymore, I just know im typing a bunch of semi-structured series of words.... but what im saying is that mining obsidian is work enough, so I think a generator should be allowed, since it also costs a piece of redstone :p

**Prices adjusted to the new server prices- Clay is now 50% what it used to be, and snow does not naturally exist on 1.8 maps**

**List now includes Shears! with Vines and Leaves prices. Tall Grass cant be sold to the server, and Wool isnt a set amount when you shear a sheep, so the profit of wool wont be listed**

would any one mind me making a new up to date one
this is wht i got done so far im going to put it in a spoiler since its long :p
I’m just going to redo this with up to date info and add some things I in no way shape or form take credit for the majority of this that credit should go to vaddldraem I would say give him some rep but that’s gone now 

**NOTE: These are prices from selling to the SERVER. You can make MORE MONEY by selling the blocks to other players and help keep USER ECONOMY running better!**

Using Stone tools is one of the best ways for everyday jobs! They are the cheapest tools to make, with decent durability and break blocks at a moderate rate. This is a good tool if you do not want to pay for repairs for iron or diamond tool repairs. Or need something to use while you wait for someone with repair to respond to you.

    Iron Tools : 251 durability

    Iron shovel : $8-9

1500 pieces of clay or obsidian, while you can make obby farms it will take a lot of time and effort

Question: why can we not sell tall grass to the server. It is semi-rare (builders :p) and requires two iron pieces to grab them. And it could sell for just .50 or less? It would be cool. Tried selling it in user economy, none of the builders beloved me. :p

Might wanna update the list. Diamonds don't sell for 60$ anymore, more like 100$
