I was wondering if anybody else would like to see this happen? Being a store owner I hate competing against the server store. Without it players would have to buy from other players creating a real economy. People would be forced to work for their supplies. This is suppose to be a (HARDCORE) server....lets act like one. The server store makes it too easy to get supplies and makes the server not HARDCORE....we may have to change the name of the server. What is your thoughts?
agreed the server store is why i dont keep my wall street shop full its not worth it but for blocks like dirt sand i always need tons of it and that is where i get it from the server shop so if they could keep simple blocks like that in the shop then yes
I would go with allowing simple blocks like dirt sand and maybe a few others. But does it really need to sell glowstones, netherbrick, etc....make people work for them and create a market for them....
I've thought about this a lot myself. The question in my mind has been "when." When is the server economy strong enough so that we are able to get rid of the server store. Lets face it, an infinite supply of goods is unrealistic. One problem that I think needs to be fixed first is passive mobs. A merchant cannot breed massive amounts of sheep to provide wool for the server, so we at least still need the wool store. Is the spawn marketplace quite there yet to take over? Maybe so. With an eff 5 pick or shovel, you can collect thousands in a few mins. Which reminds me of a post that I think Glooble made? Whoever it was, they provided a picture of land where someone with fly and an eff tool was most likely working on their mcmmo. If too many people with fly and eff are collecting massive amounts of dirt and sand, it could make the wild look like a wasteland lol. So perhaps in conjunction with getting rid of the sever store, we need another world where flyers can fly and collect resources for their shops. If anyone will be able to provide tens of thousand of dirt blocks, it will be flyers with eff tools.
This is the site where I collect sand for my spawn store LOL. So if we end up not keeping simple blocks like sand and dirt, perhaps we do need another world, cuz a good bit of the wild could end up looking like this without a server store possibly . Maybe it could be called mcmmo world, or merchant's world? I couldn't get it all in one shot btw LOL.
Actually, the reason you don't keep your wallstreet store is because i took it away from you. -.- On another note, This suggestion has already been made. See here; viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11448
i just filled the shop ill try to keep it some what full so its not a empty shop keeping up space but if the server shop is gone i would keep it way fuller
i vote simple blocks and unobtainable blocks... sand dirt cobble are fine.. circle stone are great coal too... but maybe even not that player economy for the win
Keep the server store, it is impossible to obtain mass quantities of materials from players. My spawn store sells stuff like crazy and im not even on the main floor. Plus players sell in stacks of 1 and I may need to buy 10k. The last thing I want to do is sit at a sign to get 10k of a block.
How did people miss all the other debates on this, the price raise at the block store was a compromise to this and it definately inspired the economy for awhile. I don't know if to many people complained or what but recently for the sake of bulk purchasing the prices were lowered and its like all the previous debate and crusade to make it an actual economy based server kinda went out the window. The period where prices were high at the store and people actually traded and acted like an economy was nice, and sadly short. To many people want to play like its creative mode and have the ability to build whatever, whenever, with little to no effort in getting the materials, its why the block store remains and the prices are cheap for bulk, not enough masochists that want to do things legit.
SHUT IT DOWN! This is a PLAYER-PLAYER economy server not a PLAYER-SERVER economy server. Make people work for those rare materials or, if they're lazy, make them buy it for a high cost.
My texture pack is defscape. Its really clean with good typography. I stopped using optine and need to repatch with mcpatcher (been lazy lol), so that is why you don't see the great typography here. Also, the axe looks messed up cuz I don't have HD textures loaded lol.
Well back when I joined the server in June, The server store would only be opened a few times a day for like 10 minutes and only those who made it there on time were able to buy massive amounts were able to sell it and I think the economy for building items was great at that time. People had huge shops that got lots of business when the server shop was closed. The prices for blocks in the shop were server price and people charged whatever people would buy it for since all the shop owners competed in prices. It still allows for the server shop to provide the massive amounts of materials people like building with and also allows for those who are attentive enough to go to the shop when it opens to possibly make a profit. Even a builder would be able to go in there and buy materials and then sell them over trade chat for a bit of profit. I think if we went back to this we would actually have a market that doesn't have the price ceiling that is introduced by the server store and there would actually be a market for things besides ores and enchanted items. *Edit: I just like to think of the server store as a producer, a way to buy massive amounts of resources for resale. In real life the producers can only sell so much, so there's a limit to what people can buy. Back then the limit to what people could buy was purely based on the time that the store was open, and that was all the stores at once. You had to make the choice of whether you wanted to buy building blocks, wool, food, or tools. I remember scrambling to buy wool to sell to people because building statues was starting to catch on.
