Hello everyone. So regarding the forum section Forum Games, this place used to be where fun was, were we would really play games. Now it just turned into 'Stack Your Post Count' and 'Spam'; there is still some players who just like to play the games, but there is some that take no effort, and just post 4 characters, and then raise their post count, This includes number of users who are over the 1000+ post mark. I don't know how we would do it, but we should remove either the entire forum, or add some sort of spam pervention/rule. 95% of the posters in there are spammers. Arguments/Suggestions/Questions/Concerns/Cake, post below.
Or... We could make it so posts don't count towards post count in that section? I believe it's possible, but it has been suggested and denied by Andrew before... I can't remember why exactly... The section really needs it now though, because you're right, it's being spammed like crazy these days. I'd lose like 500-700 of my posts, but I don't mind.
Meh. I just don't think its a large enough issue for andrew to need to put his time into. Its not like there is a "reward" other than self satisfaction for doing it. Just ignore it, or put in games that require thought-out answers :3
It brought to mind this suggestion, but this is only one example. ^ +1 It would only take 30 - 45 seconds to Remove it, regarding D0rcs suggestion may take a bit longer, I understand it isn't a reward or anything, but i'd like to just go back too when people have fun & play games. What I suggest: • Remove Post count in these forums. • Remove multiple posts in a row. • Once removing the post count; clear all posts, for we can see who the spammers are.
All the spammers are going to say this, 95% of your posts are Spam, this is why I want the feature removed/revamped.
Post count has no meaning. Why do you guys even care about it? There's no medal or reward for getting a lot of posts, it's just another number under your name tag.
People care about it for the reason you posted a celebration of your 1000 posts. I love Forum Games; I want to change it from Forum Spam to Forum Games, it will be a lot more fun when users arn't playing it just for post count and don't really care. :|
I don't even know how many posts I have until I hit enter on this one and check. Forum games and off-topic are places usually made on forums to allow people to spam and get it over with, so that the rest of the forum and topics don't get useless spam replies added to them. Personally, I almost never read off-topic nor forum games because I know its mostly spam. I could really care less either way, but if you deny users a place to spam they will just do it on actual helpful or interesting posts which to me brings down the rest of the forums. RagMan
I want Forum Games to be games, not spam, removing post count in that section will fix this problem; hence it will hopefully be used by those who want to play some Forum Games (Not Forum Spam Games). Why do you care about it? It's the same reason why others care about it. I don't care about Post Count, I care that Forum Games arn't be using what they should be used for. (Games, not spam.)
Since when was off-topic meant for spam? Anyway - Forum games are meant for forum games. If people want a place to spam, they can still spam there - it just won't count towards post count. If they are just spamming for post count, which will be the case most of the time, it will be less 'harmful' for them to just say "I like this" on random threads than it will be to ruin an entire section. If they do something like that, they may just make a user that much happier that someone likes their idea. If they are truly actually spamming, then they will get in trouble for it. (Also, everyone who spams for post count in forum games already 'spams' everywhere else for the most part, it will make hardly any difference.) Also, @the people who don't want their post count to go down - keep in mind the rest of us who have high post counts will also have ours go down massively. Like I said, mine would go down a good 500-700. Only like... Andrewkm and MoofinK would really be uneffected. Everyone else who is in the top 20 would probably have it massively reduced. Edit: I also just noticed that a whole bunch of forum games have been removed recently, drastically reducing my post count by 600, and reducing some others post counts by a few (DFat for example has less than 1000 now.) Who went through and deleted threads? o.o (Posts still count in the section. D
ok, I see what you mean jets. Its not to take things away from others, but to take away the reason to spam up that forum section, thus making it slower... but also more enjoyable. +9001 now.
