Minecraft Username: 314. Brief Description: Receiving a timeout message when trying to view some subsections of the forum or threads inside them. Currently affected: Economy discussion Basic tutorials Suggestions used to be broken, works now PvP discussion SG discussion Applications (Builders+) Applications (Presidents+) Contracts Staff request Off-Topic Forum Games Mayors+ section The other subforums work fine... Instructions: Attempt to open the subforum or any thread in the subforum. Wait for the data transmission to fail with a timeout message. How many times did you recreate this bug?: MANY times. Result: A timeout screen in my browser. (Tested with Firefox, IE and Chrome so far. Also tried to access via my smartphone using mobile internet and my old router from a different ISP. Still broken.) Expected Result: For the subforums/threads to load. Evidence: I could upload a screenshot of my browser's default timeout page, but that wouldn't really help...
I can vouch that this does happen. I have a somewhat different effect happen where a timeout message with some code loads, but afterwards quickly loads the sub forums.
I've never had a problem similar to the one you described. Can you please post a screenshot? Thank you! Edit: I sometimes get a page from Cloudflare(?) when the forum is not working. Is that the problem you are talking about?
It'S really only the basic (german) timeout page of my browsers. No error code, nothing to help identify the problem. Just "Network timeout". No, I really mean a "vanilla" browser timeout.
Only on ECC, and only on very specific threads. (About 2 in all of my time on ECC - however, those pages will never load, no matter what I do.)
An excellent question which I asked myself earlier today. I tested... no, when I log out, it works fine. When I log in while - for example - on the LWC page, it will time out. When I go to the main page of the forum, it then shows me as logged in. When visiting the page again, it times out.
*Nods violently* However, the forum games subforum seems to work again now... and I have yet to find out, why.
That... and 3 different browsers (4 if you also count Tor [despite it being based on Firefox] to access the site from multiple IPs). Oh, and my smartphone's browser. EDIT: YAY, it now broke sportsbook discussion. (Btw, also fixed the title... the uppercase I in "TImeout" annoyed me. )
So... finally found a way to fix it. I spent two hours messing up some system settings, including my firewall. After reverting to a backup from this morning three times because I messed up, I found a fix... I have added all problematic subforum addresses to my firewall whitelist, now it seems to work. I removed them again to check, without them being on the list it gives me a timeout. Still unable to understand why it doesn't timeout when I am not logged on or logged in with my Pivillean. Phone is still not working though. ._.
