Well, the title says it all. A store where you can buy rare items with experience. Of course, the prices would have to be sufficiently high as to not affect the exp price, but not so high that no one would consider buying from it. some examples: gunpowder. Only available through a daily kit or from the ever so rare creepers and ghasts. sponges. Only available through kit water. Ghast tears, used to be available in abundance, but people stopped hunting ghasts because it didn't make as much profit as it used to. Can be used for regen potions. Enderpearls, only obtainable from endermen, and I see those less than I see creepers. Special music discs . Only obtainable by killing a creeper with a skeleton. Human head. Obtainable through bounties. Used in firework. If you have any other items that are difficult to obtain or only to obtain in incredibly small amounts, post them in here and I'll add them to this list.
ice is much harder to obtain than it used to be. well, i suppose you could go with a silk pick into an icy biome... nvm. i just don't ever harvest my own blocks.
From my experience it wasn't that much, but then again, I haven't excavated in a long long time. EDIT: Okay, I just tested. Slimeballs come in large amounts from excavating.
The exp market is doing fine as it is. If this were to be implemented I would want to see very high prices. The prices would also have to adapt to the player to player exp market, which could allow top floor shop owners to manipulate the value of rare items more so than they can now. Like I said, sufficiently high as to not affect the exp market. And if the price in the shop is fixed at a high rate, then that would mean the user prices of things like gunpowder could increase along with exp, and decrease along with exp. Because exp has no set price, it can work. But it would have to be a bit crazy, like 1 gunpowder for 25 exp (at the price exp is at now, that's around $80 per gunpowder, and some user shops sell them at $25 a piece)
Don't people have tons of exp saved? I think it would take awhile for exp to become a better market. Neat suggestion though, maybe we could add maxed out rods? Prices would need to be insane, though.
-1 I never realized I was so rich until I read this thread. Cactus, Leather, Milk Buckets, Sponges, Slimeballs.... I neve realized people wanted this stuff. I've been just collecting it and it is sitting there gathering dust. Are these things really in demand enough for a new shop? Honestly, cacti and milk are available by the chestful after resets, as well as leather, uncooked pork, feathers, beef, and chicken(maybe not by the chestful, but they are plentiful). These things don't really sell well. Leather doesn't make anything you can't get via another means (books, armor, etc). I could see if people were scrounging for these things like Ghast tears or Enderpearls, but I don't think there are enough of those "rare" things to support a new store. Sponges are in almost every shop as it is, do we really need another place for it? Slimeballs. I guess... I just don't see a reason. I usually agree with you kuke, but I honestly don't see a need for it. With that said, if everyone else wants this new store, I would ask you add Ghast Tears since that is the only thing you didn't mention that I am short supply of. If anyone wants to do this store manually, I might be willing to split the xp profits with you and supply a bunch of items. Just PM me.
Wouldn't making a store that provided mob drops lessen the need for the donation? I guess we can add blaze rods (if we are doing mob drops), anvils (if we are doing /kit stuff like sponges), and all the mob heads in this store. (I need some creeper heads. All I keep getting is that gunpowder. ) Is there anything else that isn't sold by the server? Should we add rare tuff that is already sold by the server? Maybe we can have the XP store also sell emeralds? They're kinda rare.
Blaze rods you have an endless supply of, because there are blaze spawners. and anvils can be crafted, unlike sponges. I also don't appreciate the sarcasm.
The majority of the items on my list can only be obtained right after a reset, that said, it's not a large supply. This store is meant for when the items are no longer in abundance in other stores, they don't need to be things everyone wants. The only things people buy at the star store is the star tools, do you ever see anyone buy the other stuff? Also, I'm just giving examples, it doesn't need to be anything everyone wants, they don't even all need to be in the shop. The point of this shop is creating an infinite, but expensive supply, for items that are obtainable in finite or extremely small supplies. Even if only 1-2 items in this store is in demand, it will be worth it. Gunpowder is incredibly difficult to obtain in larger supplies. Enderpearls are incredibly difficult to obtain. Ghast tears are also difficult to obtain. (I'll add this to the main post) Sponges, they are in "every store" I had trouble finding enough sponges to clear out my own town, I can imagine other people having similar problems. So an infinite instant supply of sponges, no matter how expensive, will be worth it. I would say mobheads, but those can be farmed from mobs.
