Minecraft Username: RyanBlocks2 Brief Description: Large amounts of lag on 12/13/2015 Time:4:42 EST (Better Description Incoming) Instructions: 1. Log onto ECC 2. There appears to be large amounts of lag. People in sg seem invisible then glitch to locations. Im also experiencing an insane amount of rubber banding. Another problem is my commands stopped working and I was frozen in place (Had to relog to fix). Other players also are experiencing this. How many times did you recreate this bug?: Over 15 mins of game time and continuing Result: Lots of lag of the kind mentioned in instructions. Expected Result: No lag, or at least much less of it. Evidence: Dont have any sorry.
Making posts about lag every time the server experiences excessive lag does not help. Staff are very well aware of when these issues occur, and we work on fixing them.
At the end of the day all he did was create a forum post it's not like he did anything negative all he did was try and help. Advantages of this post: Make staff aware if they happen to not be aware/active online at the current time. Disadvantages of this post: ...nothing?
That's only a minor part issue. The real issue is the entire ECC playerbase thinking spamming "LAG" reduces lag.
^ This. This is not a rage post. I am reporting an Error in the errors or bugs section. I see nothing wrong with this.
OK. I think I've deleted most of my sarcastic and passive aggressive comments out. Let's try this again. Ryanblocks makes post about server wide issue. Oreo states that staff is aware when these things occur and a forum post is not needed every time it happens. Ryanblocks, and others, seems to get defensive. Maybe I misread it, but what I see is Oreo just trying to save you some time posting a needless report next time, and to let anyone else know they also do not need to waste their time making a report when this happens. All Oreo was saying was, "Thank but this is not needed. It just wastes everyone's time ." - (A disadvantage to some.) I just think there is a misunderstanding. So, now we all know. When a server crash or server wide lag issue happens, then the staff is aware. Those that need to know do, and we don't need to make an error thread on it.
It's the way it was worded. To me, this sounds like he saying "Don't waste our time with stupid posts. We know what we're doing" when ryanblocks was only trying to be helpful. To me, that's rude, and unacceptable for a GA. But that's just me. A more acceptable post would've been something along the lines of "Thank you for posting this, but we are already aware of this issue." A bit of professionalism goes a long way.
I guess I can see that. I think I am biased because I see it from that same way. How was this supposed to help? Did he really think that staff didn't already know about this? Who was this supposed to inform, and how was that going to help? Staff that wasn't online? And they were supposed to, what, learn about the issue from this thread? I just don't get it. But those were my own opinions and I tried to leave them out of my first post. Maybe you are right and being staff, it should have been held to a higher standard. Or maybe we (myself included) are just getting too sensitive and this is overkill. OK. Thanks for pointing out the issue.
A well documented post like this might be helpful for andrew to find out a problem by going through the server logs at that specific time. This is assuming staff wasn't online and hasn't told andrew about said lag, though. I don't see a problem with posts like these. They can only be helpful, and are not in any way harmful.
I'm sure, as Emau said above, that Andrew/Jamie/Nicit are not ignorant as to the lag, and this bug report won't make them less ignorant.
