I'd like to see some kind of newletter that gets sent out to all members via their email. Using XenForos "email users" area in the Admin CP. Every month an email could go out informing people about changes, updates staff changes etc. Why email? Why not post it on the forums? Well, if you are like me and are quite busy with things and don't normally have time to check the forum constantly to keep up with all the drama; A nice email summarising the change on EcoCityCraft would be nice in my inbox every month. Another thing, if people are perhaps inactive, getting an email from ECC about changes may bring them back to their old times on the server. Maybe even make them feel nostalgic Just a thought, let me know what you think below.
This would be a great way to inform users, but as others have said on another suggestion 1 month may be too frequent.
Monthly is too frequently, there aren't enough changes to fill out a monthly one. I would say maybe quarterly, or just highlighting specific things. Over the past 12 months I'd say only a handful of things actually were worthy of an email: Certainly: - Sportsbook / Stock Trader / Forum Bank (Which actually got an email). I'm iffy on Portal Changes, LWC Policy Updates, and certain seasonal events (like holiday events). - If we're trying to make people feel nostalgic for ECC, telling them we removed a former hallmark feature probably isn't the best for doing that. - LWC Policy Change is pretty much a negative thing, but probably should've gotten an email. - Seasonal Events are pretty much a "Only if it's been some time and we have nothing better to tell you about", but then it's kind of obvious that it's a "yeah been a pretty boring few months". Staff changes shouldn't be sent. Of the tens of thousands of registered members only a few hundred are even active enough to know any names that might come up. At that point if you really want to know, have your settings so you get an email when the staff list is edited.
I like the idea of a seasonal newsletter. Update players on what happened the past quarter and what's planned for the next quarter. This should allow for a more in-depth newsletter than if we did a monthly issue.
Thanks for replying. LWC policy changes, or any policy changes are important. Negative or not, I personally couldn't tell you when things were changed policy wise, which is my point in this newsletter idea.
