Eco Express Issue 2 ~ 18th October 2016 Welcome! Time doesn't half fly quickly! I can't quite believe it has been 2 weeks since the previous issue of the Eco Express. The response from the last issue was very warm, however it was mentioned that you don't want to see the news announcements in this issue, so... I've listened and this issue we'll be talking to @ClarinetPhoenix who has kindly agreed to an interview. I've also made a crossword for you to complete, with a small prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Details of how to enter and the prizes are located further down. All that's left for me to say is thank you for reading and enjoy! Interview with ClarinetPhoenix Clar has kindly agreed to sit down and answer some questions about her ECC career. I hope you find this interesting- I certainly did! I firstly asked Clar how long she had been playing ECC. She recalls joining in June of 2014, which means she's been playing here about 2 years, 4 months, which, to get where she is today, is quite an achievement in such a short space of time! I was keen to know what has kept her playing here for so long, and why she returns everyday to come back and play. Her answer was "The community, I know so many great people from here. It is very much home to me. I feel like I come here and I truly belong somewhere. I know I have built strong bonds and friendships with many users. I also enjoy the challenge. Its impossible to earn everything in one day. My build projects also keep me busy, I am an artist in reality and building is something I enjoy doing as a form of expression for me." It would be rude not to ask Clar about her life as a Server Admin, so I inquired as to what the best part about being a Server Admin was: "I enjoy leading and I enjoy responsibility. I love the fact that I have a lot of responsibility and that I handle it pretty well. I enjoy doing things for people that not many others can do. I also enjoy leading the Staff team and doing what I can to make sure ECC remains open and friendly as it was the day I joined." Continuing on the theme of staff, I then asked Clar what her favourite position on staff was, and no surprises, it was Server Admin! "ServerAdmin of course! I always like being able to do a wide variety of things, and as I said before I enjoy responsibility. I am a manager at work as well and leadership roles are something I always seem to excel in. I enjoy what I do, I truly do." Now, most of us know that Clar, along with doing all the Server Admin'y stuff, enjoys building. Her most recent project is Hogwarts, the fictional castle in which the majority of the Harry Potter series is set. I asked Clar how much longer she expected it would take: "As always I cannot give an ETA. I am pretty busy as it is with real life and ECC Staff as it is. I also don't want Hogwarts to be a time-constricted project. Hogwarts is one of those things I do to relax, and just the pure novelty of it for others to enjoy just adds more fire to the inspiration. I don't need the pressure of a time-frame. It takes all the shine out of the project." What with Clar's experience and the amount of time she's spent on ECC, I thought it'd be a good idea to ask her what she thought the most beneficial feature on ECC is, naturally, this is a hard question as it differs from person to person, so here is Clar's answer: "The feature I honestly probably use the most is /back. I even have it bound to a key on my keyboard. I move around a lot, its useful for that. Most beneficial.... hmmm hard to say, its a combination of features I would find extremely beneficial. However barring it all I would go with the ExtCommands line, all the way up to ++. Especially for a builder, ereps, night vision, portable enderchest, /condense. All very very useful for a user who builds a lot and handles a lot of items on a regular basis. I could go on all day about the different features and what is or isn't beneficial. It really depends on what you like to do." This next response is quite comical, and it all arose from being asked how long Clar spends on ECC: "Every day!!!! Why not?!?! ECC is lyfe! I average out 9-11 hours a day, Yeah, I'm addicted and dedicated. I admit it >.> This is literally what I do besides my day job." We all have our favourite thing(s!) about ECC, so I gathered Clar would too: "Building and being on Staff. I like building because it is a form of art for me, it is expression and I feel it helps me preserve who I am and ponder who I can be. Staff ofc because I love working with all the amazing staff members, (you guys are like family to me <3) and continuing to work hard to keep ECC what it is. " Even averaging 9-11 hours a day O) I imagine Clar has a life outside of ECC, so I asked Clar about what she enjoys doing outside of ECC: "I listen to music or play other games. I typically go play a few games of Rocket League when I need a break or if I really want some time away I play ARK: Survival Evolved. That game is a real time-killer. Outside of my PC I often go on night drives to relax, or I cook. Both are equally effective at reducing my stress." My final question to Clar was about her whole ECC 'career' and I was interested to find out what she thought was her most memorable achievement here: "Becoming GameAdmin, It was at a time everyone expected the new GA promotion, shortly after Clou had resigned. I knew I wanted to be GA but I didn't think I would be chosen, I felt there were other Smods who were more qualified at the time. But when I did get it I was seriously emotional. Those were there remember how I reacted. It honestly meant sooo soo much to me. I honestly never thought I'd be there one day. However the time I became ServerAdmin is a close second, pretty much the same feelings. It means a lot to me. I still remember the day I got Mod, and I was so scared of everything, literally. I barely knew how ECC worked, and yet here I am now. There are many things that have happened that I never thought would. That honestly is what I feel is my most memorable achievement and honestly the one that meant the most to me." That concludes my interview with @ClarinetPhoenix. I would like to thank Clar for giving up her free time to complete this for me, and I hope you all enjoy reading it! Its not yet clear when the new mall will open, or what the next project for @appleprocucling will be: "The mall will most likely take a week or two to build, but then there is also a lot of organization that needs to be done to get it running, which is in the hands of the owner @TaylorBros22 ." He continues: "I don't have any big projects after this, so I'm open to all requests. I'll consider anyone who has a project they wants me to work on." Exclusive to Eco Express readers!
